Fellow Copelanders, I need advice on tickets

Postby samburusunset on 02 Apr 2007 04:06

I have tickets for the 7/20 show in Hershey, PA. They're pretty good. Over on the TPT I located another set that might be better but I don't know. So, maybe I can describe the situation. There are 3 floor sections in front of the stage. I've got 2 seats on Sting's side. They're 9 rows up about half-way across the row. So, I'll get good views of Sting.

The other tickets I have access to are in the center section 21 rows back about the center of the row. I may be able to get better views of our man. BUT, I'll be 10 rows further back.

OTOH, who knows what the drum configuration is going to be. Is anyone on the floor going to have a decent view of our man or are we just going to see cymbals and the occasional shot of gray/blond hair flip by?
Sting is mobile and he can't be in my sightline the whole time so maybe I should stay where I am. Stewart may be viewable better diagonally. I just don't know! ARRRRGH!

Can anyone help ? What do you think?

No tellin'. I'm currently trying to unload a few single tickets for Dallas & St. Louis...who'd've thought demand would cool. I have half a mind to wait until a week or so before the show before trying again...:/

I think you ought to go for the closer seating. Honestly? You won't be able to take your eyes off Stewart anyway. He's like an octopus, I'm telling you (except that, last I checked, he couldn't change color to match his background. ;)) There'll be probably some cymbals & stuff, but you ought to be able to see.
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

I'm with Dive on this one, SS. No way to tell, but as best guesses go, I'd stay put.

Smack-dab in the center is the best way to get a (relatively) good view of The S-Man because of the cymbals, the octobans, monitors, etc. (Take a look at some old and recent video clips, and you can get a *general* idea of his preferred setup.) BUT 9th row v. 21st row is quite a difference in distance.

In figuring out tickets for my friend and me, I estimated that each "row" has between 2 and 3-feet of space (the depth of space for 1 chair and 1 standing person crammed together). So going back another 11 rows puts you 20-30 feet further away. (These are all guestimates, of course.) Try it at home: mark a spot on the wall (10 feet up maybe?) and walk 9 paces, then 21 paces (or use a measuring tape) and look at the difference. Not even close to being accurate, but will give you a general idea.

If you've got good eyes, then that distance might be fine, but I know that mine can't distinguish details from that far back. In which case, I'd stick with the closer seats. Sound-wise, the further back seats are probably better; but if the goal is to see The Boys' faces, then I'd stay closer.

(Considering my circumstances/requirements, if I had 9th row tickets in hand, I don't think *I* would replace 'em for anything further back in the center section than row 12 or 13. But again, it all depends on *your* height and vision, etc., plus the mystery unknowns for which you can't account but will pop up to piss you off anyway.)

Plus, reselling sucks. (I've got my own to unload for Giants.)
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

The latest is that this guy also has tickets for the center section, row 12 towards Andy's side. He'll sell either pair. I guess seeing Stewart is not a priority for him  What do I do? These sound pretty good. But DM has a point. Selling my tix might be a pain. Now what do I do? :?
I sooooo confused.
ONTH, I'm going to the V Fest in Balto. That'll be general seating (standing, actually). And, I'm gonna do every thing I can to get up front and center.
ONTH, the earth is not going to stop spinning if I don't see the reflection of the cymbals off his wirerims, ya know.

You never know, SS -- it just may. We'll have to wait and see.

Again, speaking only for myself, I'd say that row 12 in the center is MUCH more tempting. That I would consider.

But because selling is a big pain in the ass, I'd only consider with the worst case scenario in mind: if the planets just did not align in your favor and you absolutely could not unload the extra tickets, would eating the cost kill you? You could always gift them to someone, thereby feeling good about being a wonderful person, but only if those dollars aren't detrimental to your life.

(Either way, don't forget that 9th row/Sting-side sound like damn good seats. So you won't be suffering no matter what you decide.)

I've thought about it some more about this. I'm tempted to take the 12th row center seats. It would give me a better view overall. The guy's on vacation this week so I have alittle leeway.

OK, no more flip flopping, I'm going to take them!!
In the immortal words of someone, "Sometimes, you just gotta say, "What the F*&k."

So, I'm going to check with co-workers, my golf buddy, I'll post a sign at the gym, I'll have my bro. check with his co-workers and friends. I can do it! Send me some spiritual love and support my Brothers and Sisters in Stewart! I'll get rid of my original seats! I'll tell people they can see right up Sting's nostrils. If , of course, that's something that would appeal to them. In the words of the little engine that could...."I think I can. I think I can."

I personally love that advice...in my experience it leads to a lot less regret than not doing it and the regret of the coulda/woulda/shoulda variety <grin>

Here Here to throwing caution f'all to the wind--you're in good good company here on this board in that regard!!!!

Testify, Sister Samburu! You can do it! We believe in you!

I have no doubt you will have an amazing experience. Rock on, baby!

(ETA: BTW, I have a few friends in the eastern PA region. If I find that any of them are looking for tix, I'll be sure to send them your way.)

Thank you my Sisters, but there's been a change in plans. I reviewed the situation and realized excitment got the better of me. This guy's tix are in Sect. A, which are on Andy's side. I thought A was the center and B was Andy's side. D'oh! So these are no better, probably not as good as what I have already in Sect C (Sting's side). Soooooo, the matter is moot.

HOWEVER, STEWART: IF YOU'RE READING THIS:
If you can finagle me 3rd or 4th row sect B I'll be your BFF! OR even sweeter, just plop me down in a chair off in the wings! Huh? Huh? :D
