New love for Synchronicity

OK, everybody, I freely admit I have been saying for years that Synch. is my least favorite Police album.
But, I've been listening everything else to death so I got it out and listened to it...hub just bought a new receiver and we have Synch. on SACD...
Seriously. These guys could play the Sesame Street theme and it would sound awesome. You're going to think I'm a freak, but "Mother" is one of my favorite songs on here. Just craziness, in a good way. And the instrumentation...wow.
Don't you seriously feel like we're counting down till Christmas? Eleven weeks till Bonnaroo!!

It's funny, with this reunion scheduled, I pulled out all my Police CDs and devoted a whole iPod to them (although a very unfilled iPod, I must admit). I have a new appreciation for "Mother" and "Does Everyone Stare". I think it's interesting to see the songs that appeal to the 38 year old me rather than the 15-16 year old me that played those cassette tapes until they stretched out.

I was thinking about that the other day. It's like when I was in high school and had tickets for a Van Halen concert that was 3 months down the road. I tormented my friends with daily "120 days 'til Van Halen!, 119 days...etc." My God, I was 16 then. You'd think I'd outgrown that.
I can't imagine what I'm going to be like the day of the shows!
I, unbelievably, don't have Synch on CD. But, I got my cassette out the other day and have been listening to it, too. I do like several songs off it. "Mother" is slightly psycho. But, beauty is is the ear of the listener I guess. Andy IS awesome, though. Geeees, these guys are great!
Any other combination of people and the music wouldn't be this great.

Synchronicity isn't my fave, but it's still REALLY good.
And I hear ya on the giddiness factor. The other day I drove laps around the mall parking lot just cuz "Don't Stand So Close to Me" came on on the radio. Next thing I know, I'm smiling and accepting a swatch from the perfume-sample lady rather than plowing through and giving her the evil eye. I even said "thank you"!
Damn you, Stewart!

I've actually been more careful driving lately because I'm paranoid that I'll die in a car crash before the shows. How stupid is that, lol?!
If I ever got in an accident and was in a coma and woke up on August 6th I'd never forgive myself!

OMG - I thought I was the only person who did this! I usually reserve the extra careful crossing of the street until week of the show but it freaks me out that one other human being prays they don't keel over before The Police show!

I was sure I would miss my flight to L.A. for the Whisky thing. Then I was sure I'd get in a car wreck and miss it. The morning of, several of us got there at around 6 AM, just to be, you know, *sure*...
Aw, we're such dorks. Ain't it a great time?

I actually had a dream last week that I was late late late and could not get to the concert...I mean the most ridiculous things kept happening and by the time I got there I had to listen to the last few songs from outside of whatever generic.arena.001 was appearing in my dream because the doors were all locked...with chains and padlocks...Ya i may need help, so what
This is the best place to be a dork <grin>
Bonnaroo is 83 days 1 hour 11 minutes 4 secs according to inforoo
Synchronicity will always be my first love, first Police album I bought, which I paid for in change iirc...[as a kid you have no sense that this is a strange strange strange thing to do and its kinda a shame you end up growing out of that]...anyway, dad let me have all the coins in his spare-change vase if I counted it all and reported a total to the penny...it was like a bitchin 63 some odd dollars and he was absolutely shocked it was that much...ssscooorrre!] I went to the mall, bought records and some way-80s things called 'outliner' pens...toxic things that were once really the coolest of cool to write notes to friends with...
I loved the cover and the album is inextricably tied up in a certain time and place in my life and I can't ever forget that...I thought it was the absolutely coolest ever & I get these strange flashbacks/memories that I wouldn't probably otherwise remember if not for those songs

The song where I found more synchronicity in the synchronicity album always was Mother, just to hear the synchronicity between bass, drums, guitar anf of course the hard core voice sounds...
Bravo Andy (author), and thanks to Sting and Stewart for an awesome avant garde interpretation!

Thank god I'm not alone! I really thought I was nuts when I was driving in the snow last week and this stuff crossed my mind. I would be really pissed if I waited 24 years for this and then died or was incapacitated and missed it! On the even sicker side, my SECOND priority was the thought of missing being able to watch my kids grow up and have kids of their own... Reminds me of how careful I was when they were first born. I was terrified to get in the car with them!

This is so funny reading everyone saying how worried they are about dieing before the gigs and taking extra care - thats EXACTLY what I've been thinking - its heartening knowing I'm not the only one whose been thinking crazy thoughts like this!
-after all what a bummer it would be!
