You mean "The Police"? Like, live and in concert?

Did I miss something? Is this the wrong Internet?

Seems to me that the Po-freakin'-leece are playing together again, which I think is about all any of us here ever wanted, including our hero.

The posts about which drums are prettiest, or what kind of tights Stewart may or may not wear, or which member of the band has the most high and/or round bottom... uh... yeah. Rock on and all, but shouldn't we also be bombarding this board with posts about how we need the live shows available for downloading?

Yes. Yes, we should.

Will it require that Sting re-negotiate his record contract? Maybe. I don't care. They have lawyers and junk for that. Figure it out.

Noone....This is the right internet. And those silly threads were started as just that...silly threads. And clearly not all to be taken serious. We are all here for the same thing of course. But isn't it fun to goof off as well? I mean even Stewart chimed in on that stupid thread. Just saying. I am as excited as the next guy, or girl in this case. Good luck on your downloading ventures.

Goofing off!? Goofing OFF?!? Youtube, MySpace, Facebook... Wake up, sister. Obviously, the Internets are NOT about goofing off.

But some folks around here need to realize what the hell's about to happen. In a few short months, this site is surely going to fill with "anyone have a bootleg of last night's show?" threads.

And we'll all be pretending that cell phone videos are really awesome.

Wow. Hostile. Nope, I don't share your priorities.

I would love recordings of the live shows.
I would love to see a tour DVD.
I would love to have a private show in my backyard.
But I don't need any of it.

What I want, nay, need, is for Our Boys to take care of themselves, to stay healthy, and to not work themselves to death.

We're talking about their lives, their energy, their sweat, their time, and their hard work. For whatever they're willing to offer, I'm game; I also respect that it is their decision to make.

Wow, did this thing ever fall off the tracks. Was it because I used the word "lawyers"?

Check out my hostility, yo...

It doesn't work the band any harder to have someone press RECORD while they perform. Recording board mixes of shows is pretty much standard practice, so you can just about count on that happening anyway.

Question is, will any of us ever get to hear those recordings?

All of this requires little effort on behalf of Stewart, Andy, and String. But I would think much money stands to be made (and money is often considered compensation for effort.)

IMO, the hostility comes not in the word "lawyers" but in your general tone and diction:
"bombard"
"we need"
"we should"
"I don't care"
"Figure it out"
etc.

To my ears, that just reeks of entitlement. And yup, hostility.

Like I said, I would love to have access to the live recordings. But in the end, whether they themselves have to even spare a single breath to make an effort to record or not, they are ultimately responsible for the decision-making and the ramifications thereof. They seem to be pretty smart guys: I'd be very surprised if live recordings weren't one of the many items on their List of Shit We Have to Decide (or Shit We've Already Decided).

I totally get that you're really wanting live recordings, NOYK, and I respect your enthusiasm and share in your hopes for access. Where I disagree is in your attitude of what should happen, what needs to happen, or what we somehow deserve to happen. If they decide that selling live recordings aren't worth the money/hassle/expense/whatever, then that's their prerogative.

Try reading the original post again, but set your sense of humor to "on". It might just seem a little less hostile/entitled. You might even find that it asserts a pretty valid opinion.

How come the dude who wants the words to "Walking on the Moon" changed for him is getting less shit than me?

Entitlement. That's awesome.

Actually the Police aren't touring. The sales are for a special double Grind House feature of Everyone Stares and Synchronicity with Phil Tippett using puppets on stage afterwards and the Muppet Band following shortly.

Fiction Plane will still open.

I think rather than continue to argue, I'll just quote lisaspear, say "ummm...righto then," and leave it at that.

I must have missed the guy asking for the lyric change, but THAT sounds pretty funny.

Blueseattle, I would kill to see Electric Mayhem live.

Right. Besides, who would want take a thread about the prospect of new live Police music and turn it into an argument? That is SO Internet.

Make sure to look up the thread with "Ridiculous request" in the title. It's like the best post ever. Just promise you won't go on a tear about entitlement. You really gotta just roll with that one. I love those "can't blame a guy for trying" responses, too.

Geez, buddy. Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

This is a pretty friendly community, for the most part. It'd be nice if you'd learn to grant folks the benefit of the doubt and assume they're not trying to ruffle your feathers.

[Edit: Oh wait. You're the guy who called me a "fascist" in a thread not that long ago, after I disagreed with you on a flat-earth scientific revisionism argument *you* started. I think from here on out it'd be best for us all if I just pretended we had twit filters on this board.

And it's probably best for you if you consider some kind of professional help. Take out rage on strangers much?]

Cool! Except that totally wasn't me. Must have been a different argument you got into here in this pretty friendly community.

I enjoyed the use of the word "rage" in your last post. I'm reviewing now and trying to pinpoint the exact moment I flew into "rage".

For the record, I think the Earth is an oblate spheroid. That's just how I roll.

I say we stop giving this guy the time of day. Not very nice manners for a newbie.

First post right outta the box was mean and downhill from there.
