Yes my prayers have been answered. Andy said to Steve Jones that they will not be using back up singers on the tour!!! Just going to be Andy & Stewart! Yes!

I hope that's true!

Great news. I don't care if the backups are perfect, I want the soul sound of the three dudes!

Wisdom comes with age.

Cheers.

Yeah, he said they were playing around with the "samples" still, but sounded like a pretty definite no to the do-wop babes.

And yay to that from me!

Sting said the same thing during the Rehersals: "it's gonna be 3 guys on stage ! no backing vocals ! no horn section ! just the 3 of us ! simple but spectacular !"

I remember that from the rehearsals too, but when Stewart directly engaged the audience for their opinion it opened things up in my mind.....glad to hear a confirmation NO to the do-wop babes.

1 more YAY! 8) :D 8)

Sweet! Samples, after what Stewart said, I figured that's what would happen.

Thank You!!!

Like I've posted before, I personally wouldn't have minded additional live musicians (keys, 2nd guitar) to facilitate some of the Ghost/Synchronicity songs (male backup singers?? not sure...) I truly do feel that the female backup singers wimped out their sound a bit too much during the Synchronicity tour... so I'm glad that they have decided against that... as far as the three of them on stage alone, I'm very curious to see/hear how they approach the songs (particularly Walking In Your Footsteps, like someone mentioned)

Again, it's all cool with me... :D

For me everything is okay.

If The Police decided to make voices by themselves, or with samples, and no girls is all right for me...

I have no strong preference either way, but support whatever decision they make!

Same for me jedsoon.

The important thing to me is that our lovely trio is back and they will rock the world again :!:

Stay tune all new generations...

Was it samples that Andy mentioned in the radio interview? I thought he said it was some sort of machine that added harmonies to Sting's voice. Interesting, but not quite the same as backing vocals.

I'm really digging Andy these days. His book was a great read and he's always had an incredible harmonic sense.

I was glad to see sockii mention his solo on Voices/Running Down at the press conference. I thought it was amazing; refreshing in the face of your standard rock guitar solo. Andy rocks!

Yes. It was a simplified way of saying the same thing (or more likely a way to downplay it).

"Harmonizers" that are used to produce artificial harmonies (as opposed to producing the same note to double / thicken a lead vocal), sound terrible.

It would also be useless for the types of songs that they need backing vocals for... like in Roxanne.

They might suit a big Def Leppard style backing vocal...but not the Police.
