O.K. I want to know what show was mixed and then shelved as a live album as Andy mentioned in his book.

It was pre sync i think?

GQ out waiting for May 28!

August 1-16, 1981 - Morin Heights, Quebec mixing LIVE-Album CAN

there's an article in some magazine which (if I remember this correctly) mentions that they planned to make an album which was a mix of all possible live recordings - like AROUND THE WORLD on record, if you will...

they toyed with the idea for a live album again in 1984, but it didn't happen until the 90s 2CD.

And the tracks had been mixed... and they probably sleep in a box somewhere... (???)

There was a rumour that Shea Stadium was also recorded and nearly released as a live album...

I doubt that. Otherwise it would have leaked and the existing bootleg wouldn't sound as bad as it does.

It would be nice to get a REALLY great Zenyatta era live show.
I just never get tired of that MELBOURNE show from '81

OH YAH learned most of my Stewart chops from that tape. I recorded off the radio 81'. would you believe we had a house fire that same year probably 90% of our stuff destroyed but, when i got to my tape player its was burned and melted but guess what!!! the live tape was still in tact. WOW :)
Lost my drums in the fire though.

BEFAN, a soundboard copy of Shea Stadium is circulating !...
I believe The Police did record a lot of concerts in prevision of their live album. Some of them are great, like Beziers for example, or Houston the Summit in March '82, a concert I discovered recently.

Thanks, Olivier. I'll try to get that soundboard recording of Shea Stadium. The sound in Beziers '80 and Huston '82 is quite good too.
