Who is the best songwriter on police songs out of stewart and andy?

Personally i like stewart's songs but i thought andy's sucked apart from a few. Mother is terrible and shouldn't have been put on synchronicity. Behind my camel is alright but the weakest track on an amazing album.

Being that this is a Stewart Copeland site, I think the people here would vote for Stewart.

And I like the song Mother.

Nothing against Andy, but a lot of his songs are kind of "Avant Garde" in a way that isn't always easy listening. Omegaman is a good tune though, worthy of sitting alongside a lot of what Sting did.

Even though I didn't know who composed it at the time, my first awareness of Stewart's music was actually the theme song to the Equalizer.:D I remember as a kid staying up late to watch that show and thinking the song was cool. I wonder if the scores he did for it have ever been released on CD? Maybe somebody knows.

Darkness and Miss Gradenko are two of my favorite Police songs. Darkness could actually be my overall favorite depending on the day you ask me.

I like Stewart songs to The Police, but also like Andy's songs. I think Mother is a great and realistic song of how some boys/men thin about their mother, and the music is great. Behind my camel won a grammy, so I don't think is a weak song. My dad loves that song. My favorite b-side is Friends and is an Andy's song.

But as a matter of fact, I love Stewart's collaboration songs to The Police-many of them:
Contact.
Does Everoyne Stares
Miss Gradenko
On Any Other Day
etc, but at last my favorite is always 'Darkness...

Andy and Stewart are cool Police's guys.
Was very hard to choose one...

I vote for Stew, of course, but its really like comparing two incomparable things--I really like Andy's songs, more experimental more arty,even--I think Someone to Talk to is brilliant--but Stewart's gawky-smart humor gets me every time :)

I'll never understand the bashing of "Mother". I've always found that song to be hilarious. I love when he drops in that one falsetto "Mother"...
"Friends" is really funny, too.

Let me get this right, we’re voting on THE OFFICIAL STEWART COPELAND SITE whose songs do we prefer Stewart’s or Andy’s. It’s like watching Match of the Day but having seen the score on the early evening news! Please it has to be Stewart…but

Me neither, Andy is really funny and I’d rather listen to ‘Mother’ than listen to Sting wailing on about being the King of Pain (yawn).

I think 'Mother' is hilarious. Plus I'm a fan of Andy's solo work, and not so much Sting's, personally.

That's be like trying to choose between Tom Servo or Crow T. Robot for their abilities to make fun of bad movies. I love them both, as they are equally unique and talented individuals IMO.

I like Miss gradenko, Omegaman, Darkness, Behind my Camel ( don't forget he won a Grammy for this song), Rehumanize yourself, Someone to talk to, On any other day, Murder by numbers ( don't forget Andy is the music writer of this song and Sting wrote the lyrics), Does Everyone stares, ... I'm with you Wait and see; Andy's music is avantgarde, but Stewart's music is avantgarde too. Not many people nowadays can recognize the real value of the songs...

Just a few and selected ears like ours can feel the real power of this music...
