STEWART COPELAND

Wow, what a great interview Gio posted from the folks at JAMBASE! Thanks for that!! Lots of great insight to the Police that I'd never read, and plenty of that trademark humor that we all know and love!!

I especially liked his comments about jazz and jazz musicians. What made it especially hilarious was that he stated clearly that he likes to rip on jazz snobs in part just to get a rise out of them, and then in the comments section after the interview there are all these jazzhead fools who are all up in arms about his comments. "STEWART SUCKS", "What an idiot, Coltrane rules!!" etc., etc. All of which just makes me love our Stewart Copeland all the more. He knew exactly what was going to happen when he said that.....

Yeah, that was a great interview, classic Stewart.

That was funny as hell. Yeah, I love how about half the commenters just proved his point about jazz fans (the other half "got it").

I just can't help myself.....I read the article again, and just have to share this:

"Well half of all this is just because I enjoy the frisson caused by such comments, and the other thing that colors all this is that it's not about the music, it's about the guys. Jazz musicians as a rule are stuck up snobs. And the reason is because they don't get laid! Rock musicians get laid, jazz musicians don't!"

I couldn't help to but think that the angry commenters reminded me of the stupid sheep in the "Can't Stand Losing Ewe" video shoot....they just mindlessly walked right into Stewart's trap!

Thanks again for posting this link Gio.....I've just read it for the 3rd time! Am I obsessing much? You betcha! It's 2am here in lovely Portland, and I just can't get my hands off the keyboard and go hit the sack. I think I'll go see what videos my Police membership got me access to since I can't view anything w/ streaming technology @ work. I'm just on cloud 9!!!

I hope I don't look like too much of an idiot posting on this topic for the 3rd time in a row, but I didn't think it would make much sense to create a new topic just to tell everyone that I'm now back from browsing the members areas of thepolicetour.com site and the time has creeped to 4am! I ran across the opening post for the messageboard where they outline some of the things they have in store for the future, and I must say it'll be $100 well spent for any Police fan.

Anyhoo, it's tired and I'm late so it's off to sleepy land where I dream of the Police performing at the Gorge and I'm hearing LOTS of octoban flourishes in Stewart's drumming.....good night, or good morning!

I've always been a night owl....it just works with being a musician and playing until the bars close down @ 2am. By the time you load gear and get something to eat, it's ususally about 3 or 4am anyways, so it's par for the course for me! All this energy of the Police being back together is what's driving me now though....

Honestly, I'm so glad I have you guys for a support group these days. I feel like I've been living, eating, breathing, and (not really) sleeping the Police for weeks now. This is all just so crazy, but it's nice to know I'm not alone!

Now if I could only get back to focusing on work...that may not happen until I actually have some tickets in hand!

I've been hovering over my comp with ridiculous regularity myself lately. I'm in the same boat as you, Gio! I should be working more on my own new song, but it's taking a backseat!

Hello everyone....my name is Mike and I'm a Policeaholic. Things have gotten really bad for me lately. I can't stop posting on stewartcopeland.net, and Message in a Box is playing non stop on the CD player. I really hit rock bottom when I stayed up until 4am the other night bouncing between said drummer and his band's 2 websites....I really need to call my sponser.

Mike, in my humble point of view, I think your Police's addiction is common to many of us.

Maybe the same happened to me some time ago, but now I accepted it,
following some wise rule that let me enjoy and feel happy.


This rule is from Epicurus and want to share it with you:
He advocates the pursuit only of pleasures (like posting on this forum or listen to The Police music) what can be controlled and enjoyed with moderation.

Anyway I think the interview is very interesting, but in my point of view, Stewart is like Mozart of this time.

We should call this place PFA. Police Fans Anonymous. I have an addiction, I can no longer help myself. This is my 10th time in the last few hours, I can't seem to get enough. I come back for a fix, but I just need more. I'm obsessed. I can't leave my computer. And my alarm goes off in 4 and a half hours.....hurry up and be July!!!

I'm the Divemistress, and I too am a Policeaholic...

It all started really innocently. Fairly regularly I would take out my old cassette tapes and fondle their silky shells. Every now and then I'd take out a cassette and listen to the music. The soaring thirds, the ebullient base clefs...

But pretty soon, I found myself elbowing out room from the rest of my cassette collection so I could indulge myself in *that record*. My husband would come home to find me dusting in a state of dishabille, yelping along with Stewart or Andy's lyrics at the top of my lungs. Sting's songs as well would send me into a frenzy. It got so bad I let several of my magazine subscriptions expire...I just couldn't be bothered to deal with mundane chores when there were albums to be enjoyed.

Things went along this way for quite a while, until by lucky chance I saw in a special magazine, an advertisement for a music festival called Bonnaroo. I'll spare the details of time dragging on for months at a time until I could camp out in a special spot in the outfield and wait for my hero...

OK, this is getting creepy and I'm starting to sound like a stalker. All I really meant to say is that I too am compulsively hitting 'refresh' like the rats in those experiments that only got cheese some of the time...but ain't it tantalizing torture! Here's to many more months of full-bore rock fan geekery!
