Ticketmaster or other?

I was curious if the pre-sale tickets for the fan site is going to be directly through the site or Ticketmaster? I would hate to pay Ticketmaster the extra ka-billion dollars that it will be on top of the $225 or $90 per ticket for their evil convenience charges. It would be nice if the pre-sale tickets were made available through the site with only a nominal service fee.

From what I can tell, it all goes through Ticketmaster, no matter how you access the presale... the code is put in at Ticketmaster...

Uh oh. Here's hoping things go a bit more smoothly than they did with U2 fan club members using Ticketmaster...

U2 Ticket Presale Inflames Fans

1.26.05 - groovevolt.com

Tickets for the North American and European legs of U2's forthcoming Vertigo tour were pre-sold to members of the band's fan club Tuesday morning (January 25); however, instead of looking forward to the kickoff of the tour in San Diego, California, thousands of fans are up in arms over the way in which the presale was conducted after being shut out and they have jammed U2 message boards to express their displeasure.[/quote]

That is awful!!!! I blame Ticketmaster... they have had so many probs over the years... like HELLO!! You'd think they would fix their system to accomodate such a large demand... not to mention be organized enough to have the proper seating chart available when choosing tickets. What a disgrace!!

Ticketmaster SUCKS.

I have faith that Tina, Dave & Wendy will run this thing correctly. It's the server I'm worried about!

Yep. No disrespect intended to any moderators or management, but I don't have a very good feeling about Ticketmaster, either, and don't trust them from here to the end of my nose.

Just seems like there ought to be a better way, you know? Unfortunately I'm sure they have a lock on most ticket distribution business, for various reasons.

I just posted that article on TPT.com, and another good one about scalpers defeating Ticketmaster's CAPTCHA system (which supposedly defeats computers outbidding people on high-demand concert ticket sales, but in actuality serves as little defense against folks really determined to scalp these tickets.)

I've posted these here before, but here's the second one again too, since it appears TPT.com's message board is behind a subscription firewall.

I really think we should wait and see, but I'm not ruling out Ebay and outfits like Stubhub, should it get right down to brass tacks.

How ironic, to comment on the article you have to go through a CAPTCHA.
