Being financially "set for life" is one thing...but I think the guys will be "set for immortality" after this reunion is all said and done.

I refuse to believe another word unless it's from GIO or Stew. AMEN!

My guess is that they are in negotiations right now for a tour and they are using all the potential tour hysteria as leverage.

That's why unofficial announcements and rumours could possibly cause problems before any contracts are signed.

I think that this has the potential to become the highest grossing tour ever! The fact that their target audience has far deeper pockets than 20 some years ago, and that they have been dying to see the band all this time means the potential profit will be staggering!

I just hope we don't start seeing "The Police Reunion Happy Meals" at McDonald's.

One of the most interesting threads is that they are considering writing new material for a forthcoming recopilation album... really great to read it!

I think they've got enough ethical integrity not to allow that sort of thing to happen. At least I hope so - I'd be horrified if I was wrong! No, I'm sure they have.

I dunno. I certainly would like to believe (and actually do believe) that the guys are doing this for more than just the coin. Seriously - what does Sting have, like, seven houses?

My guess is it's more for their kids, and maybe just for good old times sake. That said, I doubt they'll be giving away tickets for rock-bottom prices, but I'm not sure we'll be seeing the $300 or so tix the Rolling Stones are putting out.

A number of buyers reported that the Ticketmaster seating charts they consulted during the purchase were changed later in the day and fans who thought they had prime seats next to the stage (at a cost of more than $175 each including service charges) found themselves in the back corner of the arena. Others pointed out that the seats that were offered were often the worst in the house.

U2 fan Emily Worth summarized the feelings of many of supporters of the band. "U2 backed out on a promise to their most loyal fans," she said. "We joined the U2.com fan club under the premise that we would have priority ticket buying. Well, I'm a member of the fan club, but [three] hours after the pre-sale began, I am still ticketless. U2 have clearly not allotted for enough tickets to accommodate the fan club members. This treatment is unethical and has hurt the people that have funded the band's career for the past 25 years."

This ticketing snafu especially distressed those members of the fan club who were previously members of Propaganda, the band's fan club, which handled ticket distribution for years before closing after the conclusion of the last tour. In the past, ticket sales were handled in much the same way that bands like Pearl Jam handle fan-club ticket sales: Prior to public ticket sales, fan club members received a letter listing the forthcoming tour dates. Fans would then check off the show (or shows) they wanted to see and sent in money for the tickets.

For this tour, U2.com took over the fan club and associated presale chores and attempted to use Ticketmaster and Fanfire to coordinate the sale. Longtime fans were especially distressed. On the message boards at interference.com, U2 fan adenoid_hynkel wrote, "The band took a reliable fan-friendly service like Propaganda and replaced it with a poorly-managed company."[/quote]

THE POLICE don't have an official Website, they didn't recorded an album the last 20 years, it means if they would like to explote fans for coins isn't the case... if they would like to do it... they'd decide to continue with the band as Rolling Stones or others... and with all the merchandise it possible to sell at Internet as U2 or others up tempo bands... THE POLICE is a band that stop at the mid of eighties..without internet, mp3, mp4, dvd, cd, ipod, hdtv, tikcets or music online, remember they started with a selfmade single and two albums totally produced by them and Nigel without the exigencies of a record label (Outlandos and Regatta)

Besides you also needs to understand if you like to surbvive in the top as a band you will be able and capacity to accept exigencies as they did in the other three albums... they made it and not accepted more demands they produced quality music and what they want to show to break up the rock scene and all the bills they earn were earned with legacy and hard work and more of that with they chemistry hability to produce a unique quality style... That's THE POLICE and if we decided to bought all the stuff they lent in their career is our responsability and record company knows it because lot of us are hungry of more POLICE... and if they want to earn more money I respect their decision...is time that the boys earn more than they not earn in the last two decades with a nowadays tour... I mean 150 million isnt enough for the quality as musicians and stars they are... you know about taxes so please no bother ... and I strongly thinks he wants to plays for us and is a plus will be 150 million or 1,000 is their value as a the band they were and are...

So, let them to allow us to enjoy this reunion plz!!!

Stewart has been referred to by the press as "Stuart Copeland" repeatedly over the years, I wouldn't discount a report because of that spelling. It's probably just a more common spelling (of that name) to the British.
