THE POLICE song at the Grammy!

If I've to choose ONE song to be performed by THE POLICE at The Grammy Awards 2007, could be:

1) As a hit one of these:

- Message in a bottle
- Roxanne
- Every Little thing she does is magic
- Every Breath You Take.

2) If I want to make the audience open their mouths along the song and turn them hot by a great musical rendition, one of these:

- Can't stand losing you mixed with Regatta de blanc
- Bed's too big without you
- Voices inside my head mixed with When the world is runing down
- O my God mixed with De do do do De da da da da

3) If I want to break the scene with a really big surprise:

- ................. ( A new song )
- All this time ( obviously performed by The Police )
- Omegaman
- Rehumanize Yourself

What could be your choises in these categories?

I'm not much of a grammy watcher so I don't know the routine, but we can definitely eliminate some songs (like King of Pain)

I love your idea of cant' stand losing you/regatta d'blanc. I LOVE IT.

My best guess is that it will either be "Roxanne" with a special jam out section (or no jam at all) or "Fallout" since that was the first single. That would be wild since it wasn't much of a hit at all.

Than again it could be EBYT since it won the grammy in 1983 (I think), but I hope not.

I pray that they come out all guns blazing. A little older for the wear, but still blazing!

Weird, I was just watching a video of Can't Stand Losing You. I thought that would be the perfect choice for the first song.

Not sure that they'd get away with Rehumanise Yourself in America.

Might have to change one of the words.

I wouldn't be surprised if they play a mini "medley"

Roxanne/regatta de blanc/message

Wombat, it's hard not to stare at the eyes, I love it!

I would love to see "Sally" performed on national television.

I'm pretty sure it'll be Roxanne.

Even if EBYT is certainly their most popular hit (and Grammy Award winning), I don't think it's the appropriate song to convince the audience that they still got the energy. They can do much better with Roxanne. Sure, it depends of the kind of audience they want to come to their future shows! ;)

A BIG SURPRISE, Jose? You mean a new song? But except us, Police hard-core fanatics, who would pay attention to a new song at the Grammys?

Yeah it will be my first choice... I imagine all the audience with their smokings and people from around the world be shoked by the exact moment of Andy's riff, Stewart beat drums plus cymbals to the sky and Sting attaked bass at "regatta de blanc" peak in sound!!! Then the lights!!

All of this with the HDTV signal and 5.0 DTS Surround!!! Really amazing to open the Gramy Awards!!!

I think it'll be Roxanne not only because the Police and Sting (when he's been playing it as a solo artist) get the biggest reaction with that song, but because this whole reunion thing is to celebrate the Police's 30th anniversary, and Roxanne came out in that first year. Fallout was released before Roxanne but not a lot of people know that song (really only hardcore Police fans), so I don't think they'll play that. If if isn't Roxanne, then it'll definitely be either EBYT or Message in a Bottle. But my bet is Roxanne.

Roxanne. As Miles said, she was the lady who changed all our lives.

I'm developing a theory here....

One of the guys at work is a music geek, he says the "headliner" of the Grammy's often gets 2 songs.

So, based on this idea, my setlist guess is
1. Roxanne or EBYT
2. Brand spankin' new original song

This way they accomplish 2 things, from a marketing perspective. They make the Grammy people happy by playing one of the 2 hugest hits they are known for, but they also get to premiere a new song in front of the entire US music industry on a show that historically already gets 1 or 2 in the Nielsen ratings. Talk about publicity!

If I was their manager, that is what I would try to get from the Grammy people.
