Apparently, The Police are recording at least 2 new songs (or new versions)...who do you think should be producing them ?

Rick Rubin ?

Nigel Godrich?

Your suggestions......

Maybe Andy should ask George Martin again.

Nigel Gray! I know the guys had a falling out, but maybe not irreparably so. (He's still alive, isn't he? I Googled and found a bunch of stuff about some Kenyan war hero, but not much about the master soundtrack blaster.)

What's Hugh Padgham doing these days? [Edit: I know I'm not supposed to link stuff in here, but maybe Gio will forgive me just this once. Fun thread I found whilst doing research on Police producers: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/showthread.php?t=46796 ]

And here I was thinking you knew the producer or news.

I'd say Mick Jones would be a great producer.

Tony Visconti! or John Leckie!

Mick Jones ? That's very interesting...but I don't see him and Stingo on the same planet really...

Sorry for being a tad bit sensational with my title post..must be Jose rubbing off on me : ))

John Leckie would be an interesting choice. I think William Orbit should do the single remixes.

My vote would be for Brendan O'Brien.....that guy can get some KILLER drum sounds IMO.

Hugh Padgham. They tortured him last time; they owe him one!

Anyone but Pharell and the NERD guys! PLEASE not them! They are so over saturating the market right now it makes me sick. Especially when there are thousands of talented producers out there. A worst nightmare, The Police go hip-hop! Ahhhhhhhhhh! (not that I have anything against quality hip-hop, like The Roots or Outkast for instance)

How about Butch Vig? Is he still around? He can help Stewart find that original punk sound he was looking for. hee-hee

If you're talking producers they tortured, they owe one to Laurie Latham. According to Andy he had to put up with Sting and Stewart taping over each others rhythm tracks for 2 weeks. Don't Stand So Close To Me '86 isn't one of my favorites but he produced some great work for Echo and the Bunnymen.

Yes, I want Gio as a Police's next producer.

Excelent!
