Did you see that news story the other day about the guy that got bit by a shark on his head? Yikes!

I have to ask, and don't laugh! Is he dead?

No, he survived!

I was too lazy to find the link before, but here it is.

Shark attacks are finally quite rare, but I like this saying:
"99% of the sharks are peacefull, but be careful if you meet the 100th!". Just a translation of mine, I hope it works in english!

Yes ma'am! Actually, someone else posted this and I wrote a quite long-winded response over in the London hotels thread...thanks for thinking of me!

(People survive most attacks by great whites, believe it or not. They taste us, then spit us out. Yecch. Too gristly. ;)

Seriously...they prefer seals, so we don't have nearly enough energy-producing body fat for them.)

Just cause I can talk about this all day, I will tell you that, should you ever be snorkeling and see a sort of stocky shark with a sawn-off-looking nose (bull shark) or one with dusky stripes (tiger shark)...swim...calmly...away...then get the hell out of the water!

For real, those are the more-lethal sharks you're likely to encounter off the U.S. (unless you're swimming or whatever up near San Francisco...not likely, as the water temp near there is usually in the 60s.) Bulls and tigers actually are responsible for nearly twice as many fatal accidents involving humans as are great whites. Although whites are migratory, and have been spotted off Florida this year.

Thanks for indulging me, all...I don't know how much further off topic we could conceivably get with this. ;)
