How much of Does Everyone Stare did Stewart actually write?

In Message in a Box book Stewart mentions that the piano riff was a "school piano exercise", and he liked it so much he recorded it. So.......... did he actually compose the riff, or just sampled something written by the professor?

In his book, he talked about writing that piece of music for an exercise at school; he used it later on to compose 'Does Everyone Stares?', but he actually wrote it.
