Sting brainwashed Stewart

Stewart, please stop putting down the songs you wrote for the Police. They're great and they are among my favorites. Just because Sting would not sing them does not mean they were no good.

Sting is the same guy who refused to let Omega Man be the first single from Ghost.

I just heard your interview with Jay Mohr and you called your songs "crap songs." Stewart, that's ridiculous.

Fall Out is among the best Police live songs. Bombs Away, Miss Gradenko and Darkness are excellent tunes and it's stupid that they were never performed live, especially when you think about all the crap covers of 200 year-old songs that Sting has recorded and performed over the last ten years.

I can't help but think he is saying that in context...as in compared to the songs Sting brought to the table.
He talks about this in the 1982 interview at WV conducted at the end of the Ghost tour. At that time he thought 2 in 10 of his songs were decent but was fully aware that his and Andy's songs weren't on the same level.

Gradenko compared to Synchronicity II?
On Any Other Day compared to Walking On The Moon?

I don't think his songs are crap, but I can see why he does after all this time.

I think Darkness maybe his best musical achievement inside the Police...but I'm damn glad Sting agreed to sing it...Its the only song that could successfully follow Secret Journey...

Finally...one only needs hear the Ghost demos to realize how uninspiring Sting's tracks were before this brilliant group began to flesh them out.
