Stewart/D'Drum Kickstarter Project: Dare To Drum

Hi all,

Haven't posted in a while, just been lurking....but I'm back to let you know about a special Kickstarter project headed up by my friends in D'Drum. I'll let the link do the talking, but basically they want to put out a film based on the "Gamelan D'Drum" project and concert. It's called "Dare To Drum," a documentary film that will tell the story of a musical journey embarked upon by Stewart Copeland and Dallas-based World Percussion group D’Drum, with Jaap van Zweden and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. But in order to get this completed and released, they need YOUR help. Please check this out; donate if you can and spread the word around...email, social media, a phone call here or there--whatever.

There are some very cool incentives if you donate at different levels; you may possibly get a private lesson with Stewart or the chance to jam with him at the Sacred Grove!

On behalf of D'Drum, we thank you for your support and please help get this project realized.

Thanks,
Dane

If money will be more than necessary, it will affect the film? :)

If I understand your question correctly, yes. If the $95,000 is not raised by October 7, then no film.

No-no-no!
For example, project raised 130k, how to spend the extra money?

Good question, as I've seen Kickstarter projects go beyond the targeted goal. I would imagine the extra money might be spent on distribution and such, but I'd have to ask the guys in D'Drum for a better answer.

What a fabulous idea and such a great campaign! Seriously the hardest thing for me was deciding what level to pledge at because so many of the goodies offered are awesome.

Oh and yes, doing my part to spread the word...!

Regarding the question on what happens if funding exceeds the goal on D'Drum's Kickstarter project, here's the official answer from Kickstarter:

"We make a larger impact on thousands more people! We will funnel those funds back into the film to make the best movie possible, probably a longer film, hire PR firms who can get the film into film festivals around the world, and make deals with broadcast channels."

So, everything benefits the project itself. If they can exceed their goal we may get a much better film, and the film itself can get out to more and more people beyond just a DVD release.

Let me clarify: the answer wasn't from Kickstarter per se, but from a paragraph on the D'Drum project page. Pretty sure most questions can be answered by reading down the page.

Yeah, me too. Haven't decided yet, but will.

Daner, you may want to change the title of the thread (by editing the initial post) to empahsize it is a Stewart project also. I suspect some people might skip it, assuming it is a D'Drum only project.
