Listening to him play one has the feeling that he's giftwrapping it.
For himself? I don't know. For us, all who appreciate, or "get", as he puts it, what he does? Maybe. It doesn't matter whether it's some delicacy on the hi-hat or the raw power of his performance, or the look in his eyes, or the colour of his compositions, that "something" that's so unmistakebly his trademark and no one else's. Whatever it is that he's giving ... feels like lacework, and tastes very nice...
