Perhaps a really exciting new re-packaging of old material, again?

Maybe something related to his musical?

As posted on his Facebook page:

Image
(If that doesn't load I'll upload it elsewhere.)

Looks interesting. I got a little excited that it might have to do with the Police, but I don't remember Stewart ever having a hole in one of his cymbals. (Then again I may have missed it.)

Oh, I wish...

O.m.g.

My heart just started to pump a little faster. This looks like Andy's hand.

:P

I don't think it is. There's a wider version of this image on Sting.com, and the rest of the body doesn't look like at all to Andy, to my opinion. But I may be wrong.
See how they like to tease: an image of a trio bass/guitar/drums to illustrate an "exciting announcement"… Probably it'll get some people even more frustrated!

I also got excited for a second.

But Sting is standing in front of a mic, center stage. The guitar player is to his right and is very thin- obviously Dominic Miller.

I think I will only get excited if there's a new studio album. There hasn't been a new one in 10 years. Sting/Police fans got spoiled because he's so prolific. For about 25 years there was new material every 3-5 years.

Sting has said he has written many songs. I hope he's not holding them for that musical.

I really have no hope for more Police songs. It's just really a shame. That trio is magic. They're one-of-kind. Not even Sting by himself can reproduce it.

The drums look like Ludwigs, Vinnie Colaiuta's current kit, plus he's now using Paiste cymbals, including an Alpha Swiss Crash with holes in it. I'd say this is not Police related.

Likely yet another rehash of old material with a non-Police band.

I honestly want to hear news about the musical instead!

and yes: that is Vinnie`s Black Galaxy Finish featuring Mini-Classic Lugs Ludwig kit, with the new Paiste 602 "modern essentials" (former prototypes) cymbals . And Dominic's hand at the right of the stage.

And there's already a Sting concert planned for July 2013 in north of France, in Arras. It's a festival, but I guess other concerts in Europe should follow soon. I don't think Sting will only do this single show this summer.
Anyway, I hardly believe we'll see the Police returning one day.
