Why No Singer?

I mentioned this issue before the tour... why didn't they get singer? I know that would have required more preparation and rehearsals. However, it would have really opened up so many more musical possibilites including the Stewart Police songs we all love and Animal Logic songs. There are also many standards.
I really hope this mini-tour is just the beginning. The YouTube videos look really good. As far as I can tell, the show is less than one hour. Perhaps in the fall or next summer they can go all out with a more extensive tour that will include dates in the U.S.

Singer? I doubt they wanted to pay that guitar player...let alone a singer!

I'm sure there are hundreds and hundreds of great singers who would have given their left (fill in body part) for the opportunity and exposure they'd get from performing with Stewart and Stanley. Anybody who fills that role becomes instantly famous.
Money is not an issue for an unknown. You know... just the way that members of the Police worked for almost nothing when they started- just enough for food and gas.
Heck, look what happened with Animal Logic. They got an unknown singer in Debra Holland and they produced two CDs with many outstanding songs. They did it before and they can do it again.
I just feel that a singer adds a major dimension to a show and opens up so many more musical possibilites. And it's more fun for fans. And a singer does not stop them from doing several instrumentals and from jamming.
If I were them I'd hold a constest/audition, film the whole thing and turn it into a documentary and/or mini-reality series. It'd be a big hit.

This is just my humble opinion but Oh Lord! Please not!
Sorry Jerseyfan but we seem to be overwhelmed with reality TV shows in England right now and this is just way to cool for that. I get what your saying because I love listening to vocals and backing vocals on most music but just sometimes the music is enough. I reckon this might be one of those 'enough' times.

JF, I agree about the 100's of singers, but who's gonna audition them? Who's gonna make sure they are not blown off the stage into the first balcony by that rhythm section like DH was every time I saw it?
I think since its a 1 off they did the right thing, but I also agree with the fact [maybe not made by you?] that this is not something the wider public would be interested in without some sort of break from the heavy artillery.
Debra was a full partner in Animal Logic...[or thereabouts in publishing]...so they would have to go with someone good enough to play with and be relevant with SC and SC, but do it just for the exposure?
I guess you'd also have to choose songs for that nobody to sing....please not King Of Pain
Stewart needs Sting. Sting also has proven he needs Stewart in my eyes...
Great thread though

Guys, if you reach for every imaginable reason why something can't be done or why it wouldn't work, then it will never get done.
However, if you look at all the great reasons to do something, then it can get done. This would be a ton of fun for fans.
Who's going to audition them? Stewart, Stanley and whoever else they'd like to have there for advice. There's no mystery to having auditions. And there's no shortage of talent in this world.
Who can hold their own with S&S? Go to any Broadway musical and you'll find several people who can hold their own with anybody. There is talent all over world.
They probably don't even need auditions because they probably each know many prospects. (Auditions, though, would make it interesting.)
These two men have decades of experience in the music business. There's a guy namded Miles who can whip up auditions and a tour with one hand tied behind his back.
Would this happen? It could. If S&S wanted it to happen, it would. It is fun to dream about.

And the jazz is very, very good indeed. (I'm just back from Ronnie Scott's - it was phenomenal.)
