OT ~ a bit too cheesy

Especially the beginning was painfully cheesy, then when the movie started to get funny, I quite enjoyed it.

I guess, it is based on an American musical, but I was a bit disappointed that the soundtrack didn't include any English rockers. They must have been a big influence at the time.

I think Tom Cruise, (and I am not a big fan of Tom), Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin and the Rolling Stone reporter did a fine job.

I have not seen the movie or the play, but it's my understanding that it is about the Sunset Strip music scene of the 80's. The Strip back then was popular for new bands, and you could spend the evening club hopping and catching all the new bands. The Roxy, Whiskey A-Go-Go, etc, and then wind up at the Rainbow Room for post-gig food. I'm assuming they wanted to keep the American-dream style aspect of it, hence no English bands.

This would explain it. Thank you.
