"Rock-N-Roll" Hall of Fame Will Continue To Be A Joke

The so-called "Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame" is a fucking joke.

I might pay attention to it when RUSH, THE CARS, KISS, DEEP PURPLE, CHEAP TRICK, WARREN ZEVON, ALICE COOPER, T-REX, PUBLIC ENEMY, MOODY BLUES, CHICAGO, HALL AND OATS, THE CURE, DEPECHE MODE, UTOPIA

& BAD BRAINS, BLACK FLAG, PLASMATICS

All are bands that have existed for >25 years. Just a bunch of old control freaks controlling the so-called "Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame"

btw, the bj band should NEVER be there along with GD, greenday and pearl jam

my opinion

Alice Cooper was inducted last year. Otherwise, I agree. They inducted the Police, but, Stewart gave them a drum kit that they are keeping in storage. WTF?

There is a tendency of the Hall to recognize performers and bands after the death of the performer or band member, which isn't the ideal way to determine who is hall quality.

So Rush's problem is that all 3 members are alive still. They are waiting for the surviving Wilson sister of Heart to accept the nomination in memory of the other sister, whichever one passes first. Same with Hall accepting it and thinking of Oats, or vice versa (although I personally don't view Hall and Oats as Hall worthy).

What about YES (probably the greatest progressive rock band ever, both in influence and sales) ?!

Well, you know Stewart's feelings on the RnR HOF. If you don't check out his stories page.
**edit: I thought it was in there. Maybe it was removed in restructuring the site.
Anyway, he doesn't think too highly of the whole process. Corporate bullshit, etc.

They're seems to be no rhyme or reason with what they do. We checked out the HoF when The Boys played Cleveland during Tourzilla. Do you think they put out any of the Police memorabilia to coincide with the occasion? No. No they did not.

Sure, they had plenty of other cool stuff. But, wouldn't that have made just *a little* bit of sense?
They did have huge placards with quotes from Gwen Stefani prominently displayed, though. So, we felt all was right with the world.

I agree with the title.

Maybe Axl had a point!

No, that's not OK, that she's in there, and Motorhead isn't! It's a crime against humanity, lol. Jan Wenner is embarassing himself. I want to know who decides these things, because they obviously are not fans.

You guys might want to check out That Metal Show on Saturdays on VH1 Classic. The host, Eddie Trunk, is a huge metal fan, and he rails about the HOF regularly. Steven Adler wore a That Metal Show shirt to the HOF ceremony, lol. Eddie was loving that! I'm not the biggest metal fan, but, he does some great interviews, with some hard rock acts as well. On last week's episode they brought in Tom Morello to discuss the top 5 Black Sabbath riffs. Very entertaining!

Forgot to add, that I was very proud when the Police were inducted, but, after reading Stewart's experiences, and realizing who isn't in the "club", I'm not so sure it was much of an honor.

I DID love that the Sex Pistols declined to show up when they were inducted, and sent a letter that basically said FUCK YOU to the HOF. I would expect nothing less from them. :-)

At least this year it was held in Cleveland at an arena, so fans could attend, not just music biz snobs.

Conroy, thanks for the link to the great Stewart interview. Can you imagine if somebody with the name Copeland ran the event?

As always, Stewart was funny, honest and interesting.

I must strongly disagree with a Stewart comment. He said that he and Andy don't add up to half The Police. Stewart, that's ridiculous.

Stewart and Andy are- without a doubt- each one-third of the Police. I've been to every Sting tour. I saw seven Police reunion tour shows. I saw the Police in NJ during the Ghost in the Machine tour.

No matter how great a band Sting puts together, the Police songs are just not the same. Stewart and Andy are so unique that the magic simply cannot be re-created even by the man who wrote the songs.

As much as I loved the reunion shows, I wish Sting would not have slowed down the songs so much. If he would have actually tried listening to Stewart, he would have learned a thing or two. I mean, where would Roxanne be without Stewart? Where would EBYT be without Andy? Those are just two examples.
