The neurologist in the clip is the doctor that Robin Williams' character in the movie Awakenings was based.

Here is his book regarding the power of music:

That is so cool. Very strong onions here too.
Have you read the book yet Eq? I've just put it on my list.

Imagine waiting 10 years to hear your favourite music again! I'm getting buried with my i-pod when I go.

The clip is from this film, Alive Inside:
http://www.ximotionmedia.com/

" The film follows DAN COHEN, a social worker, who decides on a whim to bring iPods to a nursing home."

That's Cohen with an "e". Pluto does not spell his last name with an "e"

I kinda did this once when I was working in the old farts home. One of my residents was crying and nothing I could do to console her. Out of sheer desperation I put my ear bubs on her .....She stopped crying and said that's pretty.....I can't remember the song I know it was a slower Police song ....Thinking King of Pain or Tea in Sahara...... I tried this "trick" on some of my other residents and they just gave me a dirty look and pulled the ear bubs out. The thing is, now a days, the old people that are in nursing homes are just at the time where Rock on Roll was just beginning......

Can you imagine going to see grandma and in the main lounge you hear Hendrix at full blast ;-)

LOL but where I worked they still played soft 1930's music :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: It's like they're stuck in a time warp and the stereotype of what an old fogies home should be like

There was a nice interview with Dan last night on NPR's All Things Considered. He mentioned that schools were having iPod drives, collecting old (but still working) iPods for this project. Hmmm...

I've seen a similar show on TV about that. It's amazing what music can do and the transformation it brings in these folks. It's like they "wake up".

Lil EQ isn't so little anymore! Where does the time go...

Very nice, EQ. And way to go lil EQ! Wow, she's grown into a lovely young lady. When did that happen?
My youngest (The Boy) is now taller than me, and will be starting highschool in September. Who gave these kids permission to grow up any way?
In Dallas, the only game that really mattered was in the word gamelan.
