Before I tell you the story, I need help in finding it's provenance. I now have in my possession a metal Police badge, about 2-3" high, pin on the back, with an eagle n the top, the boys heads in the middle, and "The Police" under them, with music notes that look to be De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da. Ideas?

Ah, very similar, except mine is all gold! Any idea behind it's origin, when they were made and for what reason?

Last time I checked, there was a sliver one on the bay for an insane amount of money.

Ya that things been on there forever. They want like 300+ bones for it! Screw that action, Jackson!
I'd rather put the dough towards some new hats. No offense STEWART, but I'm getting kinda tired of the tiny 12"ers.

I grew up playing 16"!!! I've since weaned myself down to 14", but every now and then, I'll pull out the 16" K Lights when I'm feeling like Beethoven

Really? I've always loved STEWART's use of such tiny hi hats (for awhile, I was under the impression he used custom hats that were only 11").

Have to agree with TD. I could deal with 13", but 12" is a bit ridiculous. My fave Stew hats are his New Beats from the first 3 albums. The 13" 2002s from Ghost are ok. Jury's still out on the 13" 602s.

Ya I was playing my friend's 14s, and they just feel a bit softer and more like what I played as a kid. I went home and it felt like I was playing "splash-hats" lol. But goodness me, I can't imagine Zil's 16" extra large pizza crash-hats! Holy cow that's big.
I remember STEWART's prototype hats during Zilla, but I'm not sure what size they were. They had the Rythmatist logo...too bad they didn't get produced.

My first-ever hats were 16" Istanbul Ks in a medium-heavy weight. I still have 'em, but retired them long ago to keep them safe. When Zildjian started offering the 16" Light hats, I bought 'em just for kicks, since I knew they would be discontinued before long - Not many people are crazy/stupid/brave enough to play them. The Lights sound amazingly close to my old Medium Heavies. Really dark and sloshy, but still fairly controllable and really frickin' LOUD. I prefer 14", though - easy to handle and big enough to really lay into.
BTW, Ronnie Vanucci of Killers uses 18" hats made up of a Dark Crash top and a REMIX ride on the bottom!

After a quick skimming of this thread, this is what I gleaned from it. Spec A has a gold Police badge from back in the day which he is now using as a very tiny hi-hat.

Anything can happen when drummers hijack a thread. We're not well, you know.

My wife can confirm that I've very very ill. Not physically. Mentally.
