OT: my dog has gone....

Yesterday I had to take the hard decision to let him go away not to suffer anymore...it was such a hard and difficult decision, but I had to do it...in the morning he had a terrible attack and I couldn't accept to see him again in that situation.
Since August last year, when I discovered he had a wide spread cancer all over his body, I've done my best to let him live as usual, and with just a few medicines he was anyway happy and didn't suffer up until the last few weeks when the situation dropped down and he couldn't handle it anymore; no big pain anyway, he was still running with the other dogs up until a couple of days ago...but yesterday morning a major attack to his nervous system drove me to the decision to stop this...he was 14 in April, he lived so well, he was a happy dog and lived a beautiful life since he came home when he was just 2 months old...he is in a new dimension now, and I'm sure he's still running to look for other dogs to play with.
Ciao from a sad Gio

Oh, Gio, I am so sorry to read your news. But it's true what they say about "you will know when it's time" and it was. My heart cries with you.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm so sorry for your loss Gio

It's the hardest but the kindest decision we can make to let our beloved pets go with some peace and dignity, but as we love them so, we know when the time is right. It's the last gift you can give.

Over the years I have watched my remaining dogs run and play with the ones that have left us and have come to realise that just because I can't see them anymore doesn't mean that they aren't still there in spirit having fun with the others now that all their aches and pains are gone.

Gio,
sorry to hear such sad news.
It's hard to explain but they have this way of telling you when it's time.
He'll be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.

Gio,

I am so sorry for your loss but I know you made the right, if so very difficult, decision. I have been in that place more times than I want to think about with my cats, a number of which developed cancer later in life and I had to decide when was the right time to let them go and no longer have to deal with pain and suffering.

I hope perhaps your dog is now frolicking with my cats Dudley, Kola and Kahlua on the Rainbow Bridge until we can all be together again.

Soffro insieme a te, ciao.
Maurizio

This is really sad to hear. You did the right thing, and being with your pet at that time is the best gift to them-but boy, does your own heart break! Be extra kind to yourself for the next few days, and God Bless!

I'm just getting caught up on my SC.net and read your message Gio. It's such a tough decision to make I know, but you did the right thing. Your dog left this world knowing he was loved and there is nothing more important than that.
