Hmmmm, Stewart a-Live or Tutankhamen dead- true toss up! But you are correct about going to the Middle East any time soon. One of my backpacking store job customers has wanted to see The Sphinx and the Giza Pyramids in person since he was a kid, and feels that is off the travel list for now at least.
I remember when Tut came thru DC back when I was in Jr. Hi/beg. of Hi school. Awesome exhibit. That was the tour of the goods which inspired Steve Martin's Tut Rap, w-a-a-a-y-y-y back when. "Born in Caledonia, moved to Arizona" (he must have been looking for a drier climate in TucsonAZ! )..........
Have fun. Make sure you get some ridiculously overpriced souvenir, because you will look fondly back upon it someday.

Thrilled for you (and your hubby) Jan. What a great trip!

I guess it really shouldn't be a surprise to any of us that your kids (and family) have done such a lovely thing. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree :) Have a super time in that lovely city (and with the visiting ancient Egyptians of course).

They are pretty amazing group

I will be actually spending my birthday the week before with mum since dad is going into hospital for an op so I can take us in everyday and not leaving mum alone
Thanks smug and I am blushing!
I plan to add to my collection big time

already bought new clothes for the trip.....I am having so much fun and it helped my favourite shop had 50% of everything....the only way to buy......now to save up for spending money to add to my collection and the hotel is right next the Victorian Market where I bought my big black cat in 2008 when I went to Melbourne to see our boy

In August is my son's 18th and he is going to Melbourne with hubby and his sister (the one still at home) to spend three days watching football (Aussie rules) matches

You will *love* that show.

Actually, my uncle just got back from Egypt (a trip he planned before the Arab Spring). He said it was actually fine and a good time to go, that the attractions were *not* cram packed (quite different from when I was there.) Just some $.02.

Have a wonderful time and be sure to post photos!!

That sounds fabulous! The show came through Toronto, but I didn't have a chance to catch it myself. Of course, it was hugely successful. Enjoy!
(You have some great kids there. What a wonderful way to celebrate being 50 years young. Your children wanted to prove to you how youthful you are by having you see a mummy who's waaaaay older than you.)
