I have something to show you all

Things are coming along nicely with my RUSH tribute band! For those that haven't yet seen:

Tom Sawyer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1q9PiLlBzYU

YYZ - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-AwmSfVFmg

I'd love to hear any feeback/criticisms! Also we need a name, so if you have any suggestions- fire away! Ideally the name is short, easy to promote/spell/put on signage and the web, and is clear that it's a Rush Tribute Band.

Thanks!

Sounds great, nice chops Spec A!
Diggin' that traditional grip going on there too.

Looking forward to seeing Rush again for the umpteenth time when their Time Machine tour comes to Vancouver at the end of June.

You sound great as always. I like Rush, but all I can think of for names bashes Peart and praises Copeland, so I'll keep my two cents this time!

Thanks gang! And now a little something from the Zep band they asked if I wanted to play in- we got together for the first time last night. Now they have to decide if they want to keep their current drummer or kick him out and bring me on:

Yeah its fast, it's the STEWART in me. First time I've ever played it though...

You make it look so easy! I like how you throw your own licks in the mix every so often. If Neil saw these vids, he'd quit!

I understand why people do tribute bands I get it..but if you can't be better than the original act, would it not be better to create something new and unique?

Yeah, and while I agree with you, the tribute thing is quite awesome. It's been enjoyable not only to just be consistently playing with other musicians again (it's been almost 6 years), but to do something that isn't exactly easy with players that are on the same level/caliber as myself. This is a great vehicle for me personally as well- I'm playing music that I really enjoy playing to, getting back into musical shape, and learning/discovering the local music scene here in town. The creative side of things will come. :)

Dammit, SpecA you make it look so easy! I haven't been to visit my chariot in quite a while -- been feeling down about it too. Thanks for the inspiration to get back in there!

Nice job, Spec!

From a spectator's standpoint, I can see why some would rather watch a good tribute band than an average original band.

If you can play Copepand, Bonzo, and Peart drumparts as flawlessly as Spec can, you are a damn good drummer and could probably play in an original band just as well anyways.

Not to mention new opportunities that can come up later on because of the exposure.

Great attitude/outlook, Spec.

Hear, hear - Well spoken, Tamadude! This is at best a stepping stone to better things and at worst, a very cool way to keep the calluses up.

Thanks mah fellow drumnuts! There was a time when original music was more important to me, and I had great fun with it (and still miss playing those songs), but life changes, and so do the priorities. :)
