This week the tornadoes and storm damage hit a little close to home. How is everyone doing?

There was a small tornado a few miles from my house, but my neighborhood had no damage. I was at work Friday afternoon watching the NWS radar and hoping I didn't come home to trees on my house or worse.

How are things in your area, Laura?

Kind of the same thing. Tornado (one) touched down near Busch Gardens and then bounced across to the Gloucester area. If it had gone west instead of east it would have said hello to the Surry Nuclear Power Plant!

And it's only April!

Thankful all around.

Oh, my: now they are acknowledging some problems at the Surry reactor. Wonder when we will hear the real story.

What kind of problems at the plant? My sister lives about 5 miles south of there?

"In nearby Surry County, a Dominion Virginia Power plant was damaged when a tornado hit the switchyard and cut off the electrical feed from the grid to the station.

Both of the station's nuclear reactors shut down automatically, and backup diesel generators kicked in to provide electricity, according to the company.

"No release of radioactive material has occurred beyond those minor releases associated with normal station operations," the company said in a prepared statement."

We were under tornado watch yesterday and the winds/storms were pretty nasty. Vespa and I basically border on a lot of flat farmland now so when the storms come in, it howls and gets scary. Power flickered a few times but stayed on and all we have to show for it today is the backyard is a giant mud puddle.

My bigger aggravation has been my place in Philly...having just spent a ton of money trying to fix a leak problem this storm just seemed to set everything off again and I've got very unhappy tenants and just want to bang my head on the wall as that seems as effective as hiring another roofer at this point.

I'm OK here. There was a tornado in Carroll County Saturday (NW of DC).

(I'm finally getting my front porch replaced from last falls tornado! Had to wait for the weather to get warm enough for concrete to cure. )

Stay safe everyone!!!!
