OT- Just lost my dog of 13y

Chester was my buddy for nearly 13years - 2 days off

A big boy - Golden Retriever and had since a puppy - hand picked him from the breeders

Thankfully he did not suffer too much - his heart gave out (i think) Just went to check up on him an hour ago and he was gone

For a big dog he was a gentle nature dog, so loyal, loved people, loved kids and lived inside.

I guess I just wanted to say a few a words about a gentle loving dog who was my friend.

Not that he was perfect---he barked too much ---- shed too much----tripping over him, always under foot
but he was my Chester

He will always be in my heart

Love you buddy and at least he is not suffering

Jan.

RIP Chester.

He clearly had a long, good life in a loving home.

I had to put down 2 of my cats in the last couple of years so I know how it feels. The last of our cats is nearly 18 years old and not in great health so it won't be long till I am there again, I am afraid.

Hang in there.

Any photos of your puppy you'd care to share?

I'm so sorry to hear it. Hugs from my brood. (They're cats, but same principle, I think.)

(Unrelated note: Was certainly glad your countryfellows didn't get worse hammered by that bitch Yasi. I had every available digit crossed, personally...hope it helped. ;))

He knew the vibes you sent him.

My big buddy ,140 pnd Bernese Mountain dog Merlin was the same. Big dogs are people I always said. Goofy n fun all the time.

I swear though, I can just tell how you treated him. He knew it. It's like a positive force. I feel really good even though i miss him so much. They're running through fields right now. Hang in there.

Keep that positive vibe he gave you, and you gave him.

Hugs.
BB.

13 years is a good age for a big dog and ruled the roost
He used to lie on the sofa while i was on the floor watching movies together with Bella of course our cat
I need to hunt down an older photo of him
He has been here before with Toby who disappeared just before Christmas (another cat)

Cyclone Yasi was nasty a no.5 highest one ever to hit Australia and two coast town were nearly wiped out however no-one as i know was killed in the storm. Many years ago I used to live in Townsville which was hit by the cyclone as well. They had plenty of warning and were moved out to safety. Seeing it all unfold on telly was unbelievable
Victoria has been hit by terrible floods and cyclone season is not over yet. Very strange and weird weather all over the world. Where I am we really do not get weather like that only bushfires now and then.

I'm so sorry. Pets are family and it's so hard to lose them. My cats are 14 and 15 years old and I am dreading the day I have to say goodbye. Just remember that you gave him a good happy home and lots of love.

I,m so sorry to hear your sad news Jan

What a beautiful boy he was.

It sounds as though he slipped away quietly in his sleep which has got to be the best way to go.

Big hugs to you. X

My heart goes out-am huge animal lover (I serve The Cat!), and there is no way to replace when one leaves this life. Enjoy your memories, At the right time the next dog will come into your life for all the right reasons and bring their own version of doggy love back in to y'all's lives. A bummer in the meantime tho'! Cheers.

So sorry to hear about Chester's passing. I'm sure he left this life knowing he was very loved.
