Tequila Recommendation Thread

I'm not a huge tequila fan, but I know there is at least one around here.

My personal trainer is a tequila afficionado -- bit of a local legend -- and recently recommended this newer brand, www.kahtequila.com, as a good one. While there is a certain dichotomy to getting a tequila recommendation from my trainer, he is a man who tolerates very little BS, so I take him at his word when he says "This one is not just fluff marketing." Who knew tequila was a health drink?!

Anyone else have recommendations to share?

Cheers!

Sure tequila is a very healthy drink, but you have to be careful not drink to much at once.

You can really enjoy drinking tequila to hear Copeland and Police music.

Just remember drink tequila with moderation so you don't have to said as KK song:

"My excesses are getting the better of me, I'm ready to go home"

My tequila of choice is Corralejo Tequila Reposado

http://www.napacabs.com/Corralejo-Tequi ... P4735.aspx

For the price (typically around $30/bottle) it's amazingly smooth and good for sipping straight - almost too good for mixing purposes (I liked El Mayor Bianco for that). Has a nice finish and some complexity from the aging. Tequila isn't my favorite spirit, but if I'm going to drink it I want to drink some of quality, so yeah. Had Corralejo recommended to me by a bartender once and have enjoyed it ever since.

Bad things happen when I drink tequila, I've avoided the stuff ever since I woke up in a hammock in the neighbor's back yard.

Ah - superb thread Chatchka! Like shyvixen, my introduction to the drink was painful. (No hammocks were involved, but it was undignified). It's hard to find anything other than mass produced 'shot fodder' in the UK, so any suggestions are welcome. In return I can recommend decent malt whisky for the cautious/uninitiated (it's nicer than tequila).
