Stewart Copeland at Tromp Percussion 2010

I'm not sure if I should make another thread about this.....
Oh well, why not, for this once
It's too bad that squeeing in front of the object of your squeeing is "not done". It was hard to keep my squeeing inside
We had a wonderfull day (except for the rain that kept on falling down). I was so glad that all the nutters were on time for the soundcheck. We were afraid Dietmar wasn't gonna make it because he had some troubles with his car. Luckely everything came out ok and we were all together at the bar around the corner (Kate, Trudy, Ruediger, Dietmar, Christine, Eugenio, Miguel, Xavier, Tonio and myself). Gio's plane landed on the same time as the soundcheck started, and he came in later.
It was really cool to enter the backdoor, give a name and be allowed to enter the hall. The soundcheck had started already and we sat down very quietly. It's great to see a soundcheck, especially with so many musicians. Everybody is playing riddles on his own instrument. One big chaos and suddenly everyone is quiet and there comes a song.
Thanks to Gaby from Tromp, we were allowed to see the soundcheck. During the performance later that night, she took the seat behind us and told me that now that she did meet Stewart and had seen him work for a few days, she began to understand why we are so fascinated by him He was so relaxed, she said!
During the soundcheck Stewart came down to shake some hands. Thanks to Gio's encouragement I was there (SQUEE!) and we exchanged some words.
I have two video's of the soundcheck, but I'm not sure if I should put them on Youtube. I feel a bit uncomfortable about that. So I think I will upload them and when you want to see them, you can sent your email to info at maud138 dot nl and I will sent you a link (but first I have to upload them).
After the soundcheck we had less than a hour to get a meal somewhere (yeah, yeah, I know, the Italians don't wanna eat pizza ), but everything worked out fine.
The show was great. It was too bad it wasn't sold out and because we were in second row, I didn't see the reaction of the rest of the audience, but they sounded enthousiastic. I will look and see if I find some reviews about the show. Elbtonal Percussion group was very good. Loved that. I also loved Forro in the Dark. Celeste got to my heart: it so much better to hear music like this on stage than on a record.
And then ofcourse the Police-songs. I did like the combination with Forro in the Dark very much, I didn't like the singing during Does Everyone Stare. Stewart should have sing himself ( or should have asked some nutters to do that , we know Dietmar can!).
You can see the vids, they are uploading now. As soon as they are done, I will give you the links here.
Hearing those songs live gave me shivers.
After the show we waited in the lounge. Gaby came and told us he would come out in 15 min and there were a lot of people waiting for photo's and signatures. Stewart looked really really tired. It was a bit of a chaos, but I think everybody got to speak with him, get a signature and a photo. He signed my beautiful flag-photobook
and he signed the flag. Well, he signed my flag, my copy of the real one.He said: "hey I know that", I said "it's a copy of the real one" and I showed him the backside with all the nutter-signatures. "Yes", he said, "The real one is hanging in my studio." (duh, as if I wouldn't know that )

After that, we had to go out in the rain again. But the beers at the bar tasted good.
Thanks nutters, for your lovely company and thanks Kate: We had some great days together.
Thanks Gio for encouraging us to come closer again and again and again. I'm so glad there was a pub at Weeze Airport. I had visions of you standing in the dark, all alone, in the rain at an empty airport.
Ah, I see the first video has uploaded. Here is Darkness: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHyqrVQHk7Q
