They posted a clip of them in the studio, with part of a new track called "Blue Tip":

They've still got it. It sounds awesome. And one of their members died several years ago. I will be buying that album.

Do I need to say why I'm posting this here?

COME ON DUDES....COME ON...

No, No need to say why you posted it here! They were great. One of my favorite bands growing up. I don't think thier music is as timeless as The Police. but back then....they were the second best New Wave band from America (IMHO)(I think DEVO was the best and a band whose music has stood the test of time.) I don't listen to my cars stuff much anymore....but I will still pull out DEVO and jump around like a teenager!
You're right Ben Orr passed away a few years ago. He was the bassist and back up vocalist. I always thought Elliott Easton was an underrated guitarist. Probably because so much of thier music featured Greg Hawkes' keyboards prominently. I never thought they were much as a touring group either. I think their music was dependent on studio mixing, whereas The Police actually sounded better live (again, thats IMHO).

Are they gonna tour? I think I would see that. I wonder if Ric Ocasek is still married to that supermodel...Paula Porzogovina? something like that...
Anyways...Let the good times roll!

If the Cars can put out decent stuff this long after they broke up, and being a few years older on average than Stewart, Sting and Andy, there is no question the Police could make a good album. They've gotta do it. I mean, the stuff they've been doing since the tour is cool and all, but come on...

I agree, Devo is awesome. They've also got a new album out that is probably the most solid one they've ever done. Sounds like it could have been recorded 30 years ago.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure the Cars are going on tour once they get the album done. They had already been touring with Todd Rundgren standing in, but looks like they finally convinced Ric Ocasek to give it a go.

WOO-HOOOOO!!!

They haven't missed a beat! Are we talkin' Ric, Eliot, Greg, Dave and Todd? It would be such a great nod to Ben Orr if they actually keep it together.

Is that Dave Robinson on drums? REAL drums? No more Simmons?

8) 8) 8)

Looks like the original lineup minus Orr. Hawkes is playing bass. I see both electronic and acoustic drums.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

I had heard a rumor to this effect a while ago but it's awesome to actually see the video.

There'll be a big Ben Orr shaped hole, but hey, I'll take what I can get. The live show a couple years back of the guys -Ocasek but +Todd Rundgren was really great.

Keeping in mind that Devo has always been an "acquired taste" for pretty much everybody.

I have known about this for a while now.

As much as I want it to be a success, it's really feeble.

Just not that great from what I have heard thus far.

We will always have this, though:

The Cars are one of the greatest rock bands of all time.

And still not in the R&R Hall of fame.
