I've got some Region 1 DVDs which I don't need any more (as I've upgraded to Blurays)
if someone is interested in getting such a Region 1 DVD I would send them for expenses only - but I've got no idea how much postage to the US or Canada might be...
if you've got any questions - dtmrcls @ aol dot com

Not sure what Region 1 means. If that applies to me, I'm interested in Police material. I don't have much of that.
I'll shoot you an email.
Cheers!

The region thing is a bit confusing isn't it?
Have a look at this link and it will hopefully tell you all about regions and which one you are in.

That was very helpful, but then I wonder how this effects discs that are copied in the various regions. So if I copy my region 1 disc on my computer and send it to you, Maria, what happens? Can you view it? And if you copy of region 1 disc on a region 2 computer, will I be able to watch it? Do the computers know the difference, or are they "region-blind"? or is it just the DVD players?
Of course I am speaking hypothetically, as it is illegal to do so and we never do that, right?

Computers are (in my experience) region-agnostic. If you copy a Region 1 DVD it will play perfectly well on a PC in Region 2. With DVD players you just have to know how to 'hack' them (enter a code via the remote) to play stuff from all regions (it's the software on a DVD player that determines the 'Region' compatibility - the hardware is the same everywhere).
