OT: Roger Waters' classy move

I'm not a huge Pink Floyd fan, but I was mighty impressed by this. As Roger Waters kicked off his world tour here in Toronto, he shared the stage with a group of young singers from one of the city's dodgiest neighbourhoods. They provided the children's choir for "Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)". On a dreary day full of depressing news stories, it was good to read this uplifting one.

Every city he's got a different group of kids involved - sometimes all from the same school or choir group, other times (like for Philly) picked from various schools around the area. It's really cool. Yesterday the local radio station interviewed one of the girls in the Philly group about how she got invited to participate and what it was like working with Roger.

What was really adorable in Philly was this one kid would hardcore air-guitar with Roger every night and Roger was totally playing into it. I managed to record most of it last night since I had a really great view of the stage:

It's a great story particularly when there is so much doom and gloom going on.

And the kids in Toronto had their first rehearsal on the bus on the way there!

That child was brilliant! Pretty much stole the show on that one!

Thanks LL and Sockii. Lovely to read and see.

She was awesome. I was re-watching my Monday vs. Thursday vids, and on Monday Roger didn't see what she was up to until about half-way through her "solo" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoC6CvPJATU) I didn't film Tuesday but I remember even then he went right up to jam with her.

Each city's definitely been different - in Chicago the kids were super-choreographed, like they worked out a whole dance routine before going on stage and obviously of their own design. In New York there's a boys' choir he's used on several of his tours. It's definitely one of the most fun parts of each night's shows.

Ugh.... you are making me wish I had gone to one of these shows. My brother in law asked me if I wanted to see Roger Waters but I did not realize he was going to do the Wall (yeah, OK, shoulda known, but wasn't thinking...) and I turned him down. Stupid!

I hope he does this again... or another North American leg, so I can go!
