"If I dont eat well, I cant sing". It was with these words that Sting announced to Corriere della sera at the launch of his own line of Tuscan food products to be sold from a farm shop on his Tuscan estate, Tenuta Il Palagio. The estate is located in Ponte agli Stolli, a fraction of Figline Valdarno, and the mayor of Figline was present at the unveiling of Sting's store, along with a host of friends and local neighbors. With his wife Trudie Styler, the pop star will sell organic olive oil, wine, salami made from a local breed of pig and acacia honey; all the products will have been grown and produced on the 900 acre property.
Sting and Styler have long been famed spokespeople for the unique rapport Tuscans have with their organic culinary traditions, and for years, the couple has been selling its line of foods to retailers such as Harrods in Great britain and other outposts in the United States. However, this is the first time the products will be sold where they were produced. Sting fans will now be able to drive right up to the gate of Tenuta Il Palagio and choose from a variety of the estate's goods.
