D'Drum Update: 9/2/10

All,

For those of you that have been on the fence about going to the Gamelan Concerto, there will be a reception after the Friday performance that Stewart will most likely be at. Yes, he will be in attendance for the show (not performing); doing interviews left and right and hopefully this reception will be incentive for you to make up/change your minds about coming.

In other D'Drum news--and this has been on their site already--the group won an award for Best Percussion Ensemble in DRUM Magazine's Reader's Poll, the "Drummies."

Also, you might be interested in this article that more fully explains the piece and the respective instruments used:

And as I said before, along with Jeff Seitz reminding you--get your hotel reservations. I'm told that more rooms will be opening up this month so get on the phone or online.

More news soon so stay tuned. Also, get on D'Drum's Facebook page if you feel so inclined!

I had originally posted this as "9/3/10." I believe I've corrected it.

Is the reception open to anyone attending the show? I got tickets way up in the back for that night's performance.

I will find out for sure if the reception is open to everyone. I'm quite sure it is, but there could always be stipulations. I will let you know as soon as I do.

So, are people going to the Friday show only or are they trying to go to all the shows?
In general, if folks had to pick one show to attend which would it be? I think it's Feb 3, 4 and 5 (Th, FR and SA).
What say ye??

Speak up!!

I would like to go Thursday if possible since that is the premiere. I would like to go to both Thursday and Friday IF I can get to Dallas then.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music

I'm still not 100% sure that I'll be able to attend. However, if I do go, I'd make the trip to Dallas worth my while by attending all three performances. I'd clear out early Sunday though to avoid the football madness as best I can.
In Dallas, the only game that really mattered was in the word gamelan.
