Thanks for that.

Kinda explains why he's doing this. They asked him and he ran with it.

I like watching vids like this rather than buying that CD.

Englishman in NY suits it.

Thanks for sharing that Jose. Based on what I'm hearing, it appears that Sting didn't do the arranging for this. It's interesting that he seems to have been given the credit though. Those who are enjoying these songs are praising Sting for his ability to reinvent these tunes, and as he said, "Breath new life into them." But really all he did was give somebody else permission to do so, and then he provided the vocals. I'm reminded of the interview with Stewart when he talked about the MIAB male choir debacle and his dismay over Sting having already chosen an outside arranger...(I'm paraphrasing from memory) "Sting said he had a guy...What?...A guy?...A guy?..What?"
In Dallas, the only game that really mattered was in the word gamelan.

I've seen that video and I have to say that it's interesting...I'm sure the live rendition will be way much better than the recording.
It happened the same to me with the lute album; I heard it 4 o 5 times and I can't get it, I don't sincerely like to listen to a cd like that, but the live show??? Well, I saw Sting live on that tour I guess 7 or 8 times and it was amazing, no comparisong with listening to the cd and going to the show! Amazing.

I guess it will be the same this time.

I like these kinds of vids as well. "Next To You" was surprisingly interesting. Have to say, I don't believe the boys ever got to that tempo on Tourzilla. Also, was the last verse lyric always "I called the doctor he said, 'give it time'"? I think they used to play it so freakin' fast that it sounded like "So many times I used to give it time..." or whatever Sting could get out.

My biggest pet peeve (related to who posted this version of video) is how the word "rehearsal" still gets misspelled (they leave out the extra "a"). Just bugs me.

Thanks for the link!

Well Rob Mathes (music director of Symphonicity) has got a thought or two on this matter in his blog:

Obviuosly some "nutters" were quite rough with him with comments...but, fair enough, he replies to them on his blog!;-))) Cool.

That blog was great to read. I will refrain from my biting Gordo comments on this. Not saying I'm totally on board, but my thoughts are a little different on "Symphonicity."

Here I include a link of what argentinian rockstar "Gustavo Cerati" frontman, guitarist, singer and composer of trio band "Soda Stereo" made in 2001 with a shymphonic orchestra: A concert tour and live album called "11 Symphonic Episodes" (he also recorded at "Abbey Road" studios of London his solo song "Bocanada" previously realesed to this live performance). Nowadays, "Gustavo Cerati" (who made an spanish version of "Bring on the Night" with Andy Summers and Vinnie Collaiuta) is inducted to "coma" in a hospital of Caracas Venezuela, probably if he recovered of a brain illness he could be disabled.. The symphonic statement of "Gustavo Cerati" was only him singing with the Synphony orchestra without any guitar or electronic musical instrument, the treatment was like a movie soundtrack :
