Plans afoot for some US nutters to invade Canada.

So I met up with Gina Supercat and Papacat in Hoboken, NJ to see Southern Culture on the Skids at Maxwells (great show at a great venue, BTW) and the topic of traveling to Toronto to see the Specials August 27th and 28th (Friday and Saturday) at the Sound Academy came up and we're all seriously thinking about it and wanted to throw it out there to see if the Canadian nutters (and other US nutters) other were interested in going as well and having a Canadian based nutter meet up that weekend. What do y'all think?

Thanks for the offer Alex. Actually, I just snagged an awesome deal on Priceline at the Courtyard by Marriott downtown for about $72 (including taxes). Plus, I'm going the bold but incredibly cheap route of taking the Megabus from Buffalo airport to Toronto to save beaucoup $$$ compared to what it would cost to fly directly to Toronto. Can't wait!!!!

Ha! I'm thinking of invading myself, but probably to Calgary so I can drive back down to Montana and help out on a dinosaur dig, maybe later this year sometime.

I'm only about 100 miles from the Great White North as I type this, but I'm out in the boondocks and probably not close to any Nutters...:( Ya'll will have a blast, I'm sure!

That is an amazing deal for the hotel. Are you at the Courtyard by the Eaton Centre or the one in Yorkville? Both are great locations and classy enough looking joints from the outside anyway. But after travelling from Buffalo, anything will seem classy by comparison. This is gonna be fun!

I'm staying at the one on Yonge street. I'm reading the reviews on tripadvisor.com and the management of that hotel actually takes the time to respond to all the reviews guests have left there.

Gee, conroy! How could I forget about that location? Whenever I'm downtown, I almost always end up in the Second Cup coffee shop attached to the hotel. Very nice!

Count me in for the gathering/beverages as well. Haven't gathered with the nutters since Luminato last summer. Way overdue.

Excellent, grace and Bongo! This is going to be grand.

conroy, I was looking into tickets for the show, but I have a few questions for you before I purchase. Friday's gig is already sold out. It is the rescheduled April show. Did the group have to post-pone due to volcanic ash?
Are you going to both concerts? If you are going to Saturday's gig, do you have general admission tickets or tickets for the VIP drinking lounge/balcony? If you haven't got your tickets yet, I'm sorry that I have no useful advice on this one as I've never been inside the venue.

Since I'll be squeezing the last bit of fun out of my summer holidays when y'all are here in late August, I'll be free both days to play tour guide and rollicking adventure co-conspirator.

Looks like Pcat and I are in...the original show was postponed because Terry was under the weather, when they rescheduled it they added another date (Sat.) The original tickets are being honored for the Fri. show and refunds will be given until the beg. of July. At that point (reported as Tue. July 6) refunded tickets will go back on sale. PCat and I have tickets for Sat. (just reg. gen. adm.) and are going to try and snag some for Fri. as well if we can whne they go back up...that's as much as I know (from the Specials boards)...will post any updates as I see them!
