I listened to NTY.
There's a bit in the strings in the first chorus.
NOt sure if it's a glitch, or what, but some interesting harmonic choices.
I didn't really mind it all that much, 'cause it's so far removed from the police.
But, really, it's pap.

I really did listen to this with an open mind...my verdict.
Sting is "OUT TO SEA"..and I don't think he is returning.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
thoughts:
*) Using an old / new Shure 55 (Elvis) Mic? Thank the merry fuck that it's not a Swing album. "Sting Swings". >shivers<
*) Has he had some 'work' done? Those scary press shots recently are actually what he looks like now?!?!?
*) Good speed, nice vocals (It is annoying the way he claps though).
*) What a fucking travesty.

Thanks for the link.
"Next To You" wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I didn't really like it, but at least it didn't enrage me.
"Englishman" works just fine.
I couldn't get through all of "Roxanne". I fell asleep on my keyboard. Perhaps I should get that one on an iPod and bring it with me to surgery in case the anaesthetic doesn't work.
"Magic" certainly isn't. I felt like I was listening to a highschool orchestra led by one of those earnest music teachers who arranges a bunch of semi-contemporary stuff in a failed attempt to be relevant. I always feel a little embarrassed for those guys.
And smax...Sting does swing...Hush.Your.Mouth. I now fear that will be his next "ground-breaking" album.
In the interview before the songs, Sting talked once again about wanting to surprise his fans. I think he has confused the words surprise and sadden.

Honestly, I only got halfway through Englishman. I just can't bring myself to listen to any of the other songs. Ugh.

Am going to take sockii's word on this and not listen!
Was there any 'shark-jumping' going on during this number.....?

63falcon, I'd say that the shark has been jumped, caught, stuffed, mounted and has been hanging on the museum wall for some time now.
