Boogie Shoes? What do you wear at the kit?

Has a question for drummers: do you rock specialized footwear when you get down with your bad selves behind the kit?

I've seen all sorts of stuff. Socks, dance shoes, the gamut.

What is your preference for drumming shoes?

I actually don't notice a big difference between wearing different shoes. Obviously, if you wear some that are uncomfortable, the drumming will be worse. And I don't think that drumming barefoot will improve your drumming; it's up to the drummer to see what's better.

I'm still a hopeless 'sticking my tongue out when I'm concentrating on counting to 4' novice, but I have discovered that the footwear is secondary to the cut of your trousers. Boot-cut or flares result in groove-disrupting kick drum tangles. Loose, A-line, slightly above the knee skirt, and low heeled, lace up tap shoes work for me.
