Well, I'm reading Hellraiser, Ginger Baker's biography. For the young'uns, Ginger is the self-proclaimed (as I read on the cover) greatest drummer in the world, one of Stewart's heroes (see the Sunshine of your Love tribute) and...a very adept polo player. (What's with tall drummers and polo? ).
The book is very crude, unrepentant, and straightforward, but it contains a wealth of information on the swinging 60s music scene, master drummers, and African percussionists, musicians and owning a studio in Lagos.
There is also a list of the Best Drummers Ever according to Ginger. I was not surprised not to find Stewart - I think he was in Africa during the Police Mach I and they were after his time.
In short, a verrrrrrrry interesting read for all drummers and drum aficionados.
