One Train Later; Normal Service Will Be Resumed Soon.

started reading a thread on tpt (yeah; it is still there).. about andy's book.... blah blah.

someone called "sockii too" (no idea who that is...) posted the following from Amazon, apparently written by the screen writer who was trying to 'do' One Train;

"As a screenwriter and 25-year-fan of The Police, I dedicated a part of my life to the opportunity to adapt it into a major motion picture screenplay. Dealing with Andy's representitives was not a pleasant experience, unfortunately; and I never even had coffee with Andy. Anyhow, I found some shocking details outside of the book. In the book, he does talk about his 1981 divorce, and involvement with other women afterwards (which is fine). Nonetheless, he fails to mention that in 1982, there was born his biological son by a woman named Susan Greening. This son was later legally adopted by bassist/volcaist Martin Turner of Wishbone Ash, who married Susan Greening. Now, there is definitely a connection here, because Miles Copeland discovered and managed Wishbone Ash before The Police. The brother of Martin Turner, Kim Turner, was The Police's road manager in Britain in the late 70's.
Why is Andy so tight-liped about this son? I have no facts, but I have had some limited contact with this son on internet social networking. Nice young man, and doing well; but not comfortable discussing his biological father. That's all I will say, because I do care about him as a friend. As far as Andy Summers, it would take a lot for him to earn my respect again."

Lordy, Lordy. :?

Not touching the kid thing.

I just checked IMDB, and the film's disappeared from the site. But if that is indeed the OTL screenwriter (and 25-year Police fan!) marching about on Amazon.com there, I simply cannot imagine why anyone wouldn't trip over themselves to work with such a pillar of professionalism.

What a hack
Good luck getting work in the business with that sensitive side...

Andy didn't ask for and doesn't need any waiter/screenwriters respect.

Personal life is off limits and there are probably details there that are way beyond anything dramatically assumed by a hopeful future SFA member.

Yeeesh

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!

Dear SMAX and all good friends here,
Please don't believe only one word what THAT person has written on there!
I KNOW THAT PERSON VERY WELL....
and had an unpleasant experience with this person on FB before.
I don't know the reason, but for some reason, this person has a bitter feeling with Andy and wanted to put him down...
I think this person is feeling like he's a victim and damaged by him.
and I'm sure that his act was too much.
I really wish this person stop those offensive acts for Andy soon.

Andy's book doesn't try to discuss all of Andy's personal life and nothing wrong with the child not being discussed in the book. It isn't a secret and is on Andy's wikipedia page.

Usually imdb is swimming with trolls but I was unaware that Amazon had a similar problem.

I will be disappointed if the film isn't brought to fruition. As for this guy judging Andy's actions about his son, I find it odd since there was a time when it was public knowledge that could have been researched on the internet. If you had looked up information about Andy via Wikipedia there WAS a section about his personal life a year or two ago. There was quite a sizable section in there about his personal life regarding his wife, divorce, remarriage and children. The wikipedia article included fairly detailed information about his son through Susan Greenling and his adoption by Martin Turner and made the connection to Miles Copeland. It even went as far as naming all of his children. If you look on Wikipedia now about Andy, all of that information has been removed for whatever reason. As a matter of fact, there is A LOT of information that has been whittled away from the last time I looked up the Wikipedia entry on Andy. It's shockingly slim considering the rich history this guy has had in his lifetime.

Yes it is well known about this son .....Andrew easy to look up on him

This write up is the usual write up on Andy

Personal

Andy married first wife Robin Lane in 1968; the couple divorced in 1970. In 1973, he married Kate, a psychology graduate, and they had a daughter, Layla Z. Summers (born in 1978). Kate and Andy divorced in 1981 but remarried in 1985 (Andy blamed their divorce on the stress of being away from home on extensive tours with The Police - during the period estranged from Kate, Andy fathered a son, Andrew, by another relationship. Andrew is now legally fathered by Martin Turner of Wishbone Ash.) In 1987, twin sons Anton Y Summers and Maurice X Summers were born. The kids were all given a letter (i.e., X, Y, and Z) for a middle name (his first solo album, XYZ, was named after his children

From official website of Martin Turner Q&A

Martin,

Andy Powell a few years back said that the first time he met Sting he played "Handy" note for note. Considering the Miles and Stewart Copeland connection and also your talented brother Kim being The Police's road manager do you believe you were a bass playing Role Model for Sting in anyway. Style wise you both are very fond of Arpeggio' and 1st and 3rds.

best regards
Fubbster

Hi Fubbs,

Stingo (as he was known amonst the crew) did call my house once and I congratulated him on some award he had just gotten and he responded by being very complimantary to me, so I figured he had checked me out. He really is a very healthy living person for the music biz - must be doing something right - and has written some wonderful songs and my wife and I are rather fond of Trudy, she is quite a lady.

My brother Kim came to my studio once and needed to get a mix of a live "Dont Stand So Close To Me" recording. It was for the B-Side of a single release of the same song done in a slow, moody studio recording which was actually released just after the band had split. They wanted to use this live version but Kim told me the bass was a problem. Sounded fine to me, until the middle section where it crashed big time, (like someone had grabbed him on stage). Kim says to me "your a bass player, get your guitar and fix it", "what?", says I. I nailed it in about 45mins and he played it to Stingo next day. "Yeah fine", says he, Kim asked him: "does the bass sound OK?". "Yeah of course"."Thats my bruv" says Kim, "Really!", etc. etc. Called me later to say the mix sounded good and out it went. I dont think it was one of their big records, and best not mention it to any Police fans maybe. Sometimes these things just have to be done.

There is quite a link between the two bands. Same manager - Miles Copeland, his little brother Stewart used to play with us when we were rehearsing at their house in the early days, my brother Kim was involved with them from day one, was pretty tight with Sting for many years, he even went to the rain forest with him to meet Cheif Raoni. I have little Andy Summers son living with me, so he has two Dads - yours truly and Andy in LA. Like a lot of people I would love to see them on a stage performing together again but I doubt that it will happen.

Best wishes
Martin Turner (30 Nov 2005)

PS - Oh, one other thing - check out Sting's auto-biography, very entertaining and fascinating. He is a good book writer too!

I also know that Andy has been involved with Andrews music can't remember how it was a long time ago that I read that

I'm posting this for Craig Betts without any editing or input from my side:

The woman who has posted this is known to Andy and Den, and said she has absolutely nothing to do with the project and is a complete fabrication.

You can also say that I have sent the following message to this person

Screenwriter:

This is personal information, and what actually gives you the right to actually publish this?
Why have you taken it upon yourself, to act as a representative of his personal life, which quite frankly, has got nothing to do with you or anybody else else outside of his family for that matter.

Have you heard of client confidentiality?

Very unprofessional and why you have chosen to publish this information as a "review" is pointless and offensive, regardless of his personal life.
If there are some factors which he decides not to include in the documentary in his book, film or any related project with bears his name, is completely up to him, and quite frankly, has nothing to do with you or anybody else, no matter how much you disagree with his personal life.

That's not your given right to publish personal information, outside of a project.

I think you should think before you type something like this.

CB

For the record, the project is still going ahead and I don't want Andy's name dis-credited, especially when some people might actually believe it :)

Best,

Craig

blimey... i feel like i've opened a can of worms (sockii loosened the lid)... which i wouldn't mind except it sounds like masayo, craig, presumerably andy and others have had, due to The Screenwriter, like, "real life" bad shit happen in, like, the "real world" and shit. ahem.

Vickie and Dietmar,

Thank you so much for adding the very detailed info. about this.

Vickie, you are right and It's so true that "that is known story but not his business"
I saw there was only hate for Andy in his(or I should call that person as her? I'm confused.) messages & comments what she/he sent to me.
They were all completly beside the point, but her/his hate was strong.
He even said as "I'll contact to Andy's son. Maybe we'll be very good friends"
Can you believe this?????????????
and she/he really DONE that ...... NO WAY

Dietmar, thank you so much for telling us about Craig Betts's comment.
I'm relieved to know that...
I know that big part of people don't take her/him seriously, but I'm still afraid of her/his acts in the future.
I wish If we all able to block her/him out from every police related places.

Smax, no, you don't have to be worry at all.
Cos you only wanted to talk about "One Train Later Movie" we know that.
I'too want to know how's the project goin now so much.
First, I got shock to remember that person, but now, I'm OK!!!!

I think this topic is a chacnce for thinking of that person.
