Sting on Taratata

Hi folks,

among the usual suspects ("Soul cake", "Christmas at sea") he also played a duet version of "Every breath you take" together with blind singer Geoffrey GURRUMUL (I have to confess I have never heard of this man before).

Well, the interesting fact is that Sting is hitting the HIGH NOTES again...I like it!
It reminds me a bit of the famous Soul Cages era with Vinx...

If I'm not mistaken Gurrumul has done something with Midnight Oil in the past...

this is NOT Sting hitting the high notes, instead he uses the "Kopfstimme" / head voice (?), which everybody can do to get that high.

I don't like the song itself too much, don't like Sting's beard or cap, don't like him NOT REALLY SINGING !

so it's back to the past for me as the Sting of today is not my cup of tea

I misread the title of the thread and thought Sting was commenting on Taranta, i.e., Stewart's La Notte della Taranta project. I wondered if Sting was going to say snide like, "At least I am not doing Italian flok music that I even know what it means."

I didn't know what Taratata was. Will check out the videos when I can do so at home.

"Head voice" is the right phrase.

Though I think it would have been jarring to the quiet acoustic thing they were aiming for in EBYT if Sting had belted with his chest voice. Gurrumul's full-on lalas around 1:40 are pretty overwhelming.
