I'm kind of surprised that nobody has mentioned this yet. I next to never watch TV sports, but I was lucky enough to see the race on Saturday as it happened to be on the screen at the restaurant I was in. It took my breath away watching that horse. Great album, amazing horse. Here's the details.

LL-- I heard that yesterday morning on the news and wondered if there was any connection to our "Zenyatta"? I guess if I read the link I would find that out---da. At best, I hope Stewart had some money on her (or him).

I saw this race. It was quite exciting. This was her first race with males, and she blew them away. Not sure if there is any "official" connection regarding the name, but way to go girl!

On a related note, one horse got spooked and wouldn't enter the gate. The judges deemed the horse "disruptive", and for the first time in Breeder's Cup history a horse was scratched for not entering the gate.

I saw the Zenyatta headlines and had a good laugh.

According to the article, the connection with The Police is that Jerry Moss, the owner of the horse, also owns the record company that produced Zenyatta Mondatta. He named her after the album.

Can anyone tell me who came up with the name for the album. It would be cool if it was Stewart since he's the biggest horse fan in the band. With a little truth stretching, he could then claim to have named the horse, who many believe will win the title of Horse of the Year.

I think it was Miles, but I could be wrong.

That horserace news headline caught my ear, too!

As far as I know Miles came up with the first three album titles. Zenyatta Mondatta was supposed to be kind of worldly but Zen.. get it? Gotta love Uncle Miles. Jerry Moss is the M in A&M Records, in case you didn't know. He loaned Ian the $ to start FBI. Go get Wild Thing right now if you haven't read it yet! Should be required Nutter reading :-)

Not surprised it was Jerry's horse... Remember when Giacamo won the Kentucky Derby? That was his horse also, named after Sting's youngest son. That was funny because when I heard the headline the first thing I thought of was Sting's son because it is such an unusual name. Yes, I need to get out more, lol. Sting said Trudie placed a bet and won like $100K because he was a long shot. Yeah, like she needs it ;-P. Ian said he should have placed a bet! Damn, I would have, if I had known who he belonged to, and for Zenyatta as well. Jerry needs to tell us when he has a Police inspired horse in a race!
