Q&A: SC on writing, memoir, & why early Police ain't in STH

(Hell yes, I'm pimping this in its own thread.)

As I mentioned the other day (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10950), a couple of months ago the UK publisher of Strange Things Happen gave some bloggers a chance to submit three (or in my case, "three") questions to SC. As you'll see, I did what any other self-respecting interviewer would do with limited options: I cheated.

Stewart responded anyway though, and even threw in an answer to a question I didn't specifically ask: what he says is the real reason why Police 1.0 is omitted from the book.

So here's my guest post over at a writer's site called WordWebbing -- "Q & A with Stewart Copeland: On writing, his memoir, and why the early days of the Police didn’t make the cut":

http://wordwebbing.com/http:/wordwebbin ... didnt-cut/

Enjoy.

(Thanks, Stewart and Robin and Netta.)

Here's my comment, cut 'n pasted:

YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!! (big loud two finger whistles) (cheers)

THIS SO RULES!!!!! It’s so nice to see him being asked thoughtful questions by someone who has a clue, instead of the usual “when are the Police getting back together” questions – when they’re not being interspersed with “yeah, but don’t you and Sting REALLY hate each other?” Bleh. We’ve all read enough of those to last forever.

I love seeing him asked writerly questions, since he’s obviously so good at it. That damn guy – is there *anything* he can’t do?

Thanks to Kellie and to Wordwebbing for a thoughtful interview.

And another YAAAAAAY!!!!! I'd throw in a WOOOOO but Conroy might smack me ;)

Thanks Kellie 8)

Kinda makes sense why Stewart doesn't want to talk about the early Police.

Must have been even more painful than Sting trashing the tuba.

Thanks for getting that info, Kellie. Very interesting answer on the lack of Police 1.0 in the book, which never made sense to me until now.

Thank you for this, Kellie! Congrats!!
Wow, you really asked Stewart some interesting questions. It's nice to know that he intended to write about the early Police, surely it must be very hard to do. I would like to hear his view of those times though (I mean, I hope it wasn't only conflict all the time, I like to think they had good times too like it looks in ES.) And of course, any other tales outside the Police since there are many more.

Thanks, everyone. Glad you enjoyed it. I was trying for a balance between writer-nerd and normal people.

Indeed. Though I must admit that I have compassion for the difficulty and pain involved, but I'd still have said "tough" and chained him to his desk.
