OT - New FF's Song "Wheels"

1 of 2 new tracks from the Foo Fighters' upcoming Greatest Hits CD

Produced by Butch Vig, producer of Nevermind

Man this song blows. As generic as they come. I'd have thought Dave would be juiced up after playing with TCV rather than all wussed out like this. Another disappointing production from Vig, whom I usually love, coming off the heels of the latest Green Day CD, which is MUCH better live.

Gah. Agreed. Man, and it sucks, because GD kicks so much ass live and their non-overproduced side-project albums are so good (that Foxboro Hot Tubs one has been in my changer so long it's starting to grow roots.) There's nothing on earth that would convince me that Grohl and the boys would ever in a million years play a lame live show; what's with this trend toward the sucky production?

Where IS Steve Albini these days, btw...?

An aside: Vultures Monday night! I'll report back, natch.

He just got married in Hawaii last month. But as far as his work, his recent work includes:

* Senium – Such Progress
* Mono – Hymn To The Immortal Wind
* Manic Street Preachers – Journal For Plague Lovers
* Umphrey's McGee – Mantis
* Stella Peel – "Stella Peel"
* Jarvis Cocker – "Further Complications"
* Minto – "Lay It On Me"
* Delby L – "Nine Skies"
* The Thing – "Bag It!"
* PRE - "Hope Freaks"
* Drug Mountain;- "Drug Mountain"
* Motorpsycho – Child of the Future
* Berri Txarrak – Payola

If you go back to 2008, he did The Breeders' Mountain Battles. In 2007, he did Iggy Pop & The Stooges' The Weirdness.

Haha, never fear EQ, as much as I love Dr G, I'm not about to kiss his arse and call it ice-cream just because it's one of his. It does indeed blow. ): But as an aside, this was written *long* before he got his mojo back with TCV. Not that that excuses it. :P

This isn't a Foo Fighters song.

Tom Petty could make it work though.

Meh.

When are we gonna get a new fucking Coattail Riders album? That's what I want to know.

Truthfully I think I've always enjoyed the Foos far more for their live show than their recorded music...I generally end up really liking no more than 4-5 songs per album and finding most of the rest to be pure filler (like this song sounds). But I'd always jump at the chance to see them in concert...

Me too. However, I guess my expectations were high given that I though The Pretender from their last CD was one of their best singles ever.

I agree with what a guy on on a morning radio show said when they played it "Tom Petty called, he wants his albums back."

Yeah, I got 20 seconds in and changed the channel. Too bad, I always liked them. Let's hope it's a hiccup.
