OT - Phish covered Exile on Main St. on Halloween

Phish (featuring Oysterhead's Trey Anastasio) will be playing at Festival 8 in Indio California on Halloween for the first time since they played in Vegas in 1997 (or was it 1998?). Traditionally, Phish plays 3 sets on Halloween, with the middle set being what they call a "musical costume," which is to say they cover an complete album. Thus far, they have covered The Beatles' White Album, The Who's Quadrophenia, Talking Heads' Remain in Light, and VU's Loaded.

On Phish's website, they are running a teaser showing potential albums that may be covered, and then slowly albums are killed off. Included in the "killed off" list are Primus' Sailing the Seas of Cheese and White Stripes Elephant. However, among the albums listed as still being "alive" is Ghost in the Machine. I don't think its a likely choice, its a possibility.

Check here for a full list of the remaining choices and the albums killed off:

Other interesting choices remaining include:

Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
The Clash's London Calling
Rush's Moving Pictures
Radiohead's Kid A
Pixies' Come on Pilgrim
Jimi Hendrix's Electric Lady Land
Clapton's 461 Ocean Blvd.
Devo's Freedom of Choice
Bowie's Scary Monsters
Blind Faith
AC/DC's Back in Black

I think the most likely are:
Prince's Purple Rain
Rolling Stones' Exile on Main St. or Sticky Fingers
Nirvana's Nevermind
Zappa's Hot Rats

but my prediction is
Michael Jackson's Thriller

Dude, the show will be in California. STEWART can join his Oysterhead bandmate Trey on stage for Darkness and then in the 3rd set maybe he sticks around for Rubberneck Lions or Little Faces.

ETA On the other hand, I am aware of Phish covering the Police only once, and it was not so good.

Even if it sucks, I'd like to see them try to cover GITM, or at the very least, a guest appearance by Stewart.

Those certainly are interesting albums!

Update:

28 of the original 100 CDs have been eliminated but GITM still remains as a possibility.

Among the recent casualties is Bowie's Scary Monsters and Peter Gabriel's "So". I guess we don't get to hear John Fishman's STEWART imitation on the hit hat.

66 albums still alive, including GITM

recently axed:

John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band
Floyd's Meddle (sorry Towos)
Pork Tornado
Duran Duran's Rio
Michael McDonald

PS Phish announced a Fall Tour. Looks like no Oysterhead until at least Winter. Probably no earlier than Spring 2010. That's ok. Maybe I'll have some tax refund money at that time so I can afford tix.

Arcade Fire | Funeral
Wilco | Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (damn)
Violent Femmes | Violent Femmes

Also, the rumor for today is that the Phish Halloween show will include a horn section. I am told that only 13 of the 59 albums still alive have horns on them. Of course, GITM is one of them. Hmmmmm.

ETA 2 more albums axed today ( ZZ Top | Tres Hombes and Creedence Clearwater Reviva | Green River). 57 albums left alive including GITMl
