What's up with the AUI CFM file?

Can someone explain this to me?

For nostalgia's sake, I tried to access Ask Uncle Ian (AUI) at BackstageCafe.com.

When doing so, a little box opened up indicating that I have chosen to open a CFM file.

What is this? Can anyone explain?

My hopes is that this is a file containing all of the posts from AUI. That would be cool. But for some reason, I can't figure out what to do with it.

I miss AUI. That was a cool alternative site to this one.

And I miss Ian

I downloaded it too but my computer says he can't find a program wich runs .cfm

I searched it on wikipedia and it seems to be the file extencion for Cold Fusion wich is an Adobe Program and you can only buy it. Price US$1,299  You can get the Adobe demo version only if you are registered.

There are other software developers like Railo but the demo version is very complicate to use and I think it doesn't work if you're not a hacker.

At one point when it seemed pretty clear the site was doomed, I did make a text archive containing a large portion of posts there - at least those made by Ian or discussions he was involved in.

I need to compile what I saved in better shape, if others would be interested in some of it for historical purposes (perhaps I can upload some of it to FanHistory in our "Preserving History" section of documents...sort of like what we've been working on currently in anticipation of the Geocities shutdown which is going to lead to the loss of a ton of fandom sites.)

Sadly I don't think that the .cfm file has anything to do with a full archive of the messageboard, though that would be nice. Has anyone tried the Wayback Machine to recover any pages?

There's a lot of good stuff missing from 2005 in the wayback machine like when the Dares went to Tucscon and Phoenix which happened to be the same time period that Stewart posted his Scoring with Angelica dinner tale on AUI :(
