OT: Dragon*Con

So, vespa and I are just back from Dragon*Con.

Sales were "meh" but we had a great time nevertheless. We actually managed to hook up, albeit briefly, with a number of nutters while there including MariaH, Kiki, Lady Starblade, and my Philly friend Creatch whom some of you met in Philly and at MSG. (Plutonic, guess you were busy, would've been great to see you while in town as well.)

Got a good group nutter shot which I have to upload tomorrow, but you can see some of my other photos here (more are coming, I only got through Friday and Saturday so far):

Hopefully will see more folks there in the future. It really is a blast of a convention and something worth checking out if you're into scifi/fantasy at all (plus they have a very big music-programming track which I never get the chance to check out!)

And oh yes, my new avatar is thanks to getting to spending some time chatting with my childhood idol and the entire reason why I am "sockii" today, Dwight Schultz (aka Howlin' Mad Murdock of the A-Team). Other folks could blow their wad on photos with Shatner, Nimoy, and Patrick Stewart...all I wanted was a moment with my A-Team!

I am reeeeeally enjoying the photos cropping up on Facebook. ;)

Wish I could make this thing, but it's always the weekend of my anniversary and I can't ever seem to swing it...Thanks much for the reports.

It's not my thing but it sounds like a really cool event. One of my non-Nutter friends has been to it in the past and spoke fondly of her experiences; it sounds like the same kind of vibe we get when Nutters convene.

One of these years I hope to make it down especially after seeing sockii's photos. My uncle always has his family reunion picnic on Labor Day weekend.

I hear you may have broken the Thriller record... formerly held by The College of Williams and Mary (my Alma Mater). Congrats!

Looks like so much fun and antics were to be had...my heart was there, surely, but I got about a week worth of work done this weekend (even with a friend's surprise 40th b-day party on Sat) so I can regret that I wasn't able to be there with you all, but I can't regret staying home the weekend...

Next year, better watch out--the cape may make a reappearance....MMMMMMEEEEEOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!

Dragon*Con was a blast. I actually participated in the World Record breaking attempt with the Thriller dance. One of the most exciting things I've done.
