I see that it says the book will be released September 29. Cool! A friend's birthday is that day so when I run out to Borders that day, I'll buy two copies! Birthday gift dilemma solved.

This is great news about the earlier release date.

That said, I have had too much trouble with pre-ordering (most recently with Certifiable) to do it here. I will buy it on the day it is released or at least by the day after and not wait for it through a early order and the late delivery that seems to come with the early order. Not one I want to wait for.

Now it will no longer be released the day afetr my birthday but now the week before. Early present rather than a day late.

Thought has occured to me. When they do book tours don't you generally have to purchase the book at the store where they have the signing? So, if you're planning on going to a signing (WHICH YOU'RE DOING - RIGHT STEWART!!??) you may end up with more than one copy.

Yes, it's generally expected that you buy the book right there on the spot.
I thought I won't mind having two if it comes to that. One would stay at home and the other would go with me on the subway for reading at every possible free moment.

One exception that I expericned was when Andy did an event at New York University for "One Train Later," and no one cared that I brought my copy in. But they weren't really in the business of selling books.

If you buy the book from, say, Barnes & Noble, and then there is an event (cough, cough, STEWART, like the Union Square store in NYC, or the Borders by MSG!), you could try bringing your receipt or packing slip. But plan on buying another in case the store wants to be annoying about it.

Just to add to the confusion...I pre-ordered my copy from the Canadian bookstore chain, Chapters, and when I checked the status of the book on the store's website they have the new "publishing" date as September 16. The HarperStudio site gives the "release" date as September 29. So, I checked out the website for HarperCollins.ca since those are the people releasing the book here according to the book store. They have a "on sale" date of September 16 as well. Three different names and two different dates but the Canadian ones are both Sept. 16.
I wonder why it's being released earlier here. I'm not arguing with the idea, of course. I'm just wondering. It's exactly a week after my birthday, too! Thanks for the belated gift, Stewart.

*cough*BOOK TOUR*cough* Mid-September is a lovely time to visit Toronto. I do believe that the Toronto International Film Festival will still be underway at that time. *cough*BOOK TOUR*cough*

I was also pleased to see that a promo for Strange Things Happen is featured the main page of the HarperStudio site.
