Most Hated Love Songs- EBYT

I'm shocked with this!!! How can anyone say Every Breath You Take is about stalking?

"Every Breath You Take," The Police - Fundamentally, this is a great song -- but a love song, it is not. Nevertheless, the dedications fly every Valentine's Day, prom, and wedding. Before you send this song out to the one you love, listen to the lyrics. It's about stalking. Do you really want a restraining order? The music is good, but the sentiment is more than a little bit creepy.

here is the stupid list....

They say that because it is about stalking. Sting, Stewart and Andy all have said so. When Andy gave his talk in Toronto he called it "the world's best loved stalker song". He said that Sting wrote it when his first marriage was falling apart and it explored some of the darker feelings he was experiencing. It's about possession and control.

Never heard that before. Sorry guys, I'm missing The Police Lyric Lesson.
Although, my concept of stalking is quite different and I think that EVBY is still a big love song...
but that's another story and I'm too lazy to explain my point of view...

By the way Luddite, everything is Sting is about possession and control
Funny cause he also said "If you love somebody set them free", maybe this was his luminous side of the darker feelings...
I love this place!

As I've said before, I endured this song rather than enjoyed it. And it's nothing to do with the lyrics, it just doesn't float my boat.

It was written with that 'negative' intention, it was the time when politically speaking, everything seemed to be under control from the most important Presidents.

Anyway, Sting always said also that you can respond the way you like to the lyrics of a song, and in this case, if you don't read or listen the claryfication from Sting, you can easily think it's a love song, that's why so many use it as soundtrack to their wedding...ehehe.

~Thanks Gio!
I knew Sting had a hidden intention, I never read his things so that's probably one of the reasons I don't know that.
I know that Dance Me to End Of Love was written with Nazi campus on mind, though it's consider a master piece of love for all the Cohen fans, where I'm included. :P

I'm with ya', Sister!

People can take the lyrics any way they want to. I personally think it's not their best work, yet it was the most commercially successful. The music is boring (don't smite me, Stewart :-D ) to me.

I don´t know why ALL women here like EBYT.
Forget lyrics. We don´t speak fluent English daily.
Probably is a "women suit" melody.
Regards.

Actually, Horacio, I know a lot of women here who don't like this song at all, neither lyrics nor music. I'm one of them!
I've taken a liking to it only because of some new memories that I've recently attached to the song. At the concert in Buffalo a number of us Nutters had the Flag in the front row. Andy talked with us during the song. Then policerule threw a replica of his old winged hat on stage for him. He laughed so hard and then put it on. Stewart and Sting were surprised and laughed pretty hard too. Now when I hear the song, I remember the fun we had and can see the happy looks on the faces of the boys.

Horacio dear, not all the women here love EBYT, as you can see for previous post Dafttart and Amy expressed their emotion about the song.
Why should I or any other here forget the lyrics? A "women suit" melody?
according to another previous post this is a f******* male complain about a lost female.
Regards.
