Stewart on drums with a police hat and glasses, Henri with a similar look and Sting without his dryed blond hair...
A piece of POLICE video-history:

I don't identify the song they played... Perhaps "Dead end Job"?

This clip was taking from a movie called 'Acceleration Punk', a very low-fi movie about the punk club scene in France and Uk (some Sex Pistols images from their 'boat trouble' are included as well. The whole movie is about 60 minutes.
The song is CLOUDS IN VENICE, an early track they performed at the very first few gigs in 1977 with Henry on guitar.

"ACCELERATION PUNK" seems to have been issued on DVD or VHS.
http://www.raredvdworldwide.com/movies.htm
I don't think this is a footage taken from Punk Festival.
But there's also a french documentary movie from 1977 with the band called "HOT CUTS FROM MONT-DE-MARSAN" released by Jean-François ROUX and produced by VIDEOSTONE DISTRIBUTION.

About the Punk festival and the date (5 or 6 ?):

Sorry, in french. French magazine from September 1977. They said that Police performed on the first day, friday.

They played on the 5th. Here's the link on.. ehm.... ehr... your site:

The same day played Damned, and their Festival video has recently been issued on a box set dvd.
I read something I think on the record collector about a possible release of Acceleration Punk on DVD.
But isn't this from the VH1 Behind the music ?
Edit: Of course not. I am confused. I drink.

You know what? I have watched the acceleration punk extract again and again and I'm not so sure that it is their song that we hear in the film. It doesn't sound like Sting's voice at all and it doesn't sound like 'Clouds In Venice' as we can hear it in the Mont De Marsan bootleg.
They probably used a song from another band as the soundtrack for that sequence. As the sound is extremely bad, we can't be sure/

You're right, there's something wrong. The bassline and the drums do not match what you see

About the article...It mentioned Andy Summers in the line up of The Police... and what I watched on the You tube video clip were Sting and Henri plus Stewart Copeland on drums wearing a POLICE hat and sunglasses... I am baffled

the clip is NOT Mont de Marsan!
it's probably 28.03.1977 - Paris, Palais des Glaces
Mont de Marsan was the last four piece gig with two guitarists.
I'll send photos of both gigs to anyone interested so you can compare for yourself.

Gert, I disagree: I haven't seen Acceleration Punk, but I'm sure this is a Police tune (improvisation in the middle of a song but...which one ? I don't know). There is a little gap between image and sound (I know it, cos I once put a video - on YouTube - of me playing keyboards in a studio with my band, and there is this little gap too), and being bass player, I'm able to compare the pattern Sting did with his fingers and the sound of the bass.
And another interesting thing: you can clearly hear Henry saying (in French): "ce bassiste s'appelle Sting, applaudissez-le tous, yeah !"
We cannot see Andy on this video, so it's before may 77.

Dietmar,
If you can send me the photos, it will be great. When you have a moment... Thanks my friend.
Olivier,
You're right. I can hear that.
So, if we can not see Andy on the video and if Henry is talking in FRENCH, it's the Palais des Glaces, as Dietmar said.
Also, the band seems to wear the same clothes and the same hat for Stewart as in the concert at Dioganes, one week earlier.
But did Andy play at The Gibus in may ?

It's very strange because it seems that my VHS of acceleration punk has a different soundtrack than this extract found in utube. How comes?
Olivier, what you say is perfectly true, regarding to the utube extract. But this is not what I heard in my VHS.
Strange, very strange...

the police only did two concerts as a four piece
24.06.77 - London, Marquee - 3 piece gig, but Andy joins for encores
(he knew a few songs, because he played them with Sting and Stewart for the Strontium 90 gig)
25.07.77 - London, Music Machine
05.08.77 - Mont de Marsan
